chemin de la mature...

Postby shameboy on 18 Mar 2009, 01:03

Hello fellow pilgrims,

On the Via Tolosano, 20 km ahead of the Col de Somport, there's a spectacular hitch-hiking path along the main road N134. Because my Camino will start in Borce, i was thinking about following this track for a while and than return to the main road. Has anyone tried this particular track before and if so, do you have the possibility to meet the main road to the top of the Col de Somport ?
See you
Rudy

Rudy, I am not familiar with the Via Tolosano, but hope this answers your question. About 2km after Urdos on the N134 there is a path to the left marked "Col du Somport par Ancienne Route d'Espane" by a small yellow sign. This is a spectacular path that after about 3 hours brings you back to the N134 a few km before Somport. When you reach the N134 turn left, despite the sign that points to the right, and follow the road to Somport.
