Hi!

Don't quote me on this, but I think in spring last year we were quoted about 80 Euros. One guy was keen to go by taxi and was looking for people to share the cost, but everyone just ended up getting the airport bus to the station and then the train.

This site shows an 18:10 train Bayonne - SJPdP. Would that help? I arrive the same route as you but a few weeks later. Have a look:

I took the same flight last November then took a taxi to St. Jean and, as tyrrek says, it was around 80 euros.

Hi!
Last year I booked transport from the airport in Biarritz to SJPdP with Express Bourricot.
It worked very well.

The price for direct transportation at 66 Euro is shared among the passengers, so the more you are, the cheaper it gets :)
I booked it upfront and dropped a note at this forum about it, in hope to get fellow passengers.
We ended up to be 3 passengers. 22 Euro each - cheap!

AWalkabout,

Many Thanks for this link :D :D

I have now booked transport from Biarritz to SJPP with Express bourricot...
Caroline was outstandingly helpful, I emailed her with my date and time of arrival. I was expecting and happy to pay the full 66 euros for the journey but she kindly offered me to share the trip with 3 other people who are traveling to SJPP so its now only 15 euros... "Now thats customer service at its best".. :D :D

This is my first Camino and I have too already experienced kindness that make me feel blessed.

I arrive on a Sunday (3rd of June) and there are not many trains so I decided in the end to book transport from the airport in Biarritz to SJPdP with Express Bourricot. Caroline was ever so helpful and offered to tip others to share the ride with me to lower the cost.

Then I booked my first night in L'Esprit du Chemin and Huberta and Arno have been so helpful answering questions and they also offered to help me tip others to share the ride to St Jean. They really made me feel welcome although I have not yet arrived.

Finally I decided to book an Altus raincoat with Pierre and he was also very helpful, he will put one aside for me. Huberta and Arno also told me he has many other things available which I might not be able to take with me on the plane.

In the words of Methodistpilgrim I hope that this is just the first of many kindnesses on my Camino. :)

I'm very happy I read this thread! I'm in a similar situation, just arriving into Biarritz on Sunday, May 20, the day after you. The train service from Bayonne to St Jean looks quite limited that evening, and instinctively I want to get to St Jean earlier rather than later, just to get setled and relax. I had more or less resigned myself to the expense of a taxi direct from Biarritz, but now I will definitely check out this option!

Mark,

I believe you would go wrong with Express Bourricot.. :D

I've never met Caroline from Express Bourricot and I'm aware that it is business they are running but for her to "AS I SEE IT" to show such out & out act of kindness to a complete stranger.. this is something that I've never experienced before....! "but is something I will always remember"
My journey hasn't even started and a simple act has filled me with felling of joy and hope for the rest of my journey..
I tip my hat to this Kind soul whom proved not to Holley be wrapped up in financial gains to be made from pilgrims that are full excitement and longing to arrive at their place of rest prier to the start of their long journey..

Hi Bryan,

I'm delighted the Express Bourricot option has worked out well for you. Alas, for me, it hasn't worked out quite so well. I mailed the company with my arrival details (my flight is due to land at 3.15pm), but incoming pilgrims on the same flight must have been in touch before I was, as Caroline got back to me saying they were more or less full and wouldn't be able to pick me up before 5.30pm, so I wouldn't get into St Jean until around 6.30pm, and might have to pay the full €66 myself if I was to be the only passenger. Yes, taking a taxi will cost more than that, but it also means I'll get to St Jean before 5pm, and I am eager to get there as early as I can, so the Express Bourricot option is not for me. It's no-one's fault, just the situation that it is. C'est la vie!

It cost 130 euros in September 2010. Quicker than the train but not as enjoyable and expensive!

Hi,

I'll be arriving on Biarrtiz airport on May 6 at 15.20, but wish to arrive at SJPP earlier as I need to collect poncho from a shop there (Boutique du Pelerin through Pierre as advised by someone in the Forum), before it's closed at 7 PM, so the next day I can start to walk in the morning.

I have emailed Caroline from http://www.expressbourricot.com, and she mentioned I can share it with other passengers with cost of EUR 22.

Regards,
Martha

Alan K,

Are you arriving at the Biarritz airport? It is located midway between Biarritz and Bayonne. You might bike from the airport to the Bayonne rr (Gare SNCF). The TER line 62 train from Bayonne to SJPdP DOES take bikes. Here is the CURRENT line 62 TER timetable until July 6, 2013 (second screen) >> http://telechargement.ter-sncf.com/Imag ... -42307.pdf. You can buy your ticket at the station, cost is roughly 10 euros and there is no need for a reservation since seating is open as on a tram or metro. If no seat is available you stand.

Buen Camino,

Hi Meredith: I want to make sure that I am reading the train schedule correctly. I arrive in Biarritz from Paris on Sunday, May 26 at 10:15 in the morning. If things aren't super efficient at the airport and i can't get to the Bayonne station for the 10:48 a.m. train, am I correct that the next available train to take is at 14:55? Many thanks! Sonya

Not sure if RailEurope web site is accessible to you but the train schedule is posted and indicates four trains a day from Bayonne to St Jean Pied d'Port. We arrive from DUB on 9-19-2013 and have a reservation at ~ 1445.

I looked at the schedule link posted by Margaret and on Sundays one of the trains is at 2:55 in the afternoon. I hope I have it right but perhaps I will get lucky and meet a few pilgrims on my flight who want to split the cost of a cab. Sonya
