[APRIL FOOL!] Free beer for the walkers!!!

Postby Sojourner47 on 23 Mar 2012, 18:09

Following in the tradition established by Alfred Wainwright on the English Pennine Way, an eccentric philanthropist has set up a fund to provide a free pint of beer to all those who walk the Camino Ingles from Ferrol to Santiago.
Barrels will be positioned in Praza Obradioro with a choice of Estrella, Foster's Lager or Stella Artois beers. To qualify for this amazing offer, pilgrims should present their credential with at least 3 stamps per day, none of which should be from a bar.
Ina Rushman, spokesperson, welcomed the initiative, saying, "This will encourage more people to use the Camino Ingles, thus reducing pressure on the other routes".
Due to start on April 1st, this could lead to similar schemes being introduced on other little-used routes to Santiago.

Now that's what I call imaginative marketing!
However, before rescheduling my coming pilgrimage to Santiago, I would need to know whether this fund can cope with a beer lover as me! Because "a pint a day keeps this pilgrim away" !

I've read this post several times and for the life of me I can't figure out what was so eccentric about this guy. Can one of you sober souls point it out to me?
