Happy Easter!

Postby Arn on 23 Apr 2011, 17:33

At sundown this evening, the Easter Vigil will mark the most important day on the Church's calendar. The solemn vigil of Easter has as its principal symbol the paschal candle: The Resurrection of Christ is the light that dispels the darkness of sin and death.

We love the Service of Light and Easter Vigil but our local church here does not have this service. We have to wait until the 10.30 service tomorrow.

A trifle early from here in the UK:-
Alleluia, Christ is Risen
He is risen indeed, Alleluia.

A very happy and blessed Easter to you Arn, and others on the Forum.

We have that service in Sahagun. It is the fifth day in a row for church services, some of those twice in one day.
This one starts late, and goes on for THREE AND A HALF HOURS!!
Seeing as the last week has been spent partying, visiting the cousins and granny, and carrying heavy pasos through the streets on their shoulders while balancing a cone-hat on their heads, many locals give this part of the holiday a miss.

For me, tomorrow is the biggie! Nothing like a good resurrection after all that blood, sweat, and tears!

For Christians everywhere, the words of St. Augustine of Hippo are appropriate;-

"We are an Easter people, and Alleluia is our song!"

A happy and blessed Easter to you all!

Happy & Joyous Easter to all! Even those of us sitting home with horrible head colds, that mean we can't get near new grandbabies!! I toast you all with my cold medication today!! But it is a beautiful sunny warm Sunday..and He is risen so, Rejoice and be glad!

So ask yourself, what's the absolute worst that could happen? If you can handle that, then go ahead and do it!
