Places we stayed on Camino Ingles

Ferrol - Hotel Suizo:-
Nice hotel, great size room and ensuite with a nice continental breakfast.
Staff were nice and friendly and spoke English also stamped our passport for us.
Cash machine outside and supermarket directly facing.
Close to Camino start at the port and not far from tourist office.
Would recommend here.

Pontedeume - Bar Luis :-
Cheap and cheerful. Decent room with ensuite bathroom.
Nice friendly owners who do not speak English but are use to communicating with no Spanish speakers so no issues understanding each other.
Located handily close to bridge, shops, chemist and start line for next day.
We were too tired to try and food/drink but it is there if required.
Would recommend here.

Betanzos - Alburgue :-
Located right in centre close to the beautiful church, with bars and restaurants all around.
The alburgue is a newly built and everything is clean and fresh with a great kitchen and dining area. Also has washing/drying facilities for clothes. Bathrooms with showers all modern and fresh.
Was very cheap at €6 and am guessing one of the better alburgue on the camino.
Would recommend here:

Bruma - Meson Novo :-
Our stay here for two nights as we split the Bruma stay was one of the highlights of our trip. The owners are just awesome, they go out of their way to make your stay as good as possible and look after you very well.
The home cooked food was great (and lots of it) and very welcomed at the end of each day. When we returned from the Bar Julia - Bruma stage and looking a bit tired the lady brought us over some food she had prepared and didn't charge us for it. That is the type of people they are.
Rooms are very spacious with nice en suite bathrooms.
Another nice touch was when we left to do the Bar Julia- Bruma walk we had left our washing from day before to dry in room but would never have dried as it was pouring outside. When we returned it had been tumble dried and was folded neatly in our rooms for us.
Also the son Antonio collected us from Bar Julia on the first day and dropped us back on day two for our walk and they didn't charge us for this either.
We chose to stay here from recommendations on the forum and so glad we did.
Highly recommend here, should be a must stay on Camino Ingles:

Siguiero - Hostal Miras :-
Located right in centre of Siguiero with a built in bar/restaurant.
Unfortunately this was by far our worse accomodation on the Camino.
Staff were rude and just looked in a bad mood all day. Food was not great either.
Rooms were small with no ensuite so shared bathrooms and everything just looking dirty, with quite a few damp patches.
Worse thing for us was the noise, walls/doors must have been very thin as there was a huge amount of noise from other rooms and even more so from the road, it was just constant traffic driving past all night.
Neither of us got much sleep or enjoued our stay.
Would not recommend here:

Santiago - Hortas P.R. :-
Located just a few hundreds yards from Cathederal so very handy.
Accomodation was excellent, fully modernised building, large rooms, great modern en suite bathroom.
They also have a nice 'beer' garden seating area out the back.
We had the top room and our sky light looked out onto the Cathederal.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke English, plus ordered a taxi for us when we were leaving and made sure to take our bags off us and carry to taxi.
Would highly recommend here:-

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I would agree with Balian about Meson Novo. What a place! What fantastic people! Enormous rooms, great food, and a crazy low price!

It's a MUST, although the albergue at Bruma is also a great, welcoming place.

Thank you Balian; hoping to do the Ingles to Finnesterre in October.

Fully agree with Balian's post re Meson Novo. We stayed there just last week and it is the tops. 18€ per person a night. All you can eat continental breakfast for 5€. My wife adored the freshly made churros! Owner/managers used to work in uk.
Just great!

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
Hostal Miras is poor there is an albergue del Delia about 400 yards away and it is excellent!

This list is so helpful! Did you make reservations for these areas ahead of time or did you wait until you arrived to book a room?

I agree 100% with the recommendation of Meson Novo. What a lovely family, and what great accommodation for what is only supposed to be a 2 star hostal!

I ate in the Hostal Miras in Siguiero, but didn't stay there.

I stayed in the Hotel Silva in Ferrol. Nearer the station than the port, but it cuts off a couple of kilometres from the first day's stage. Walk down to the port the previous night, get your credencial stamped and save yourselves a good half hour the next day!

There's another excellent cheap hostal right in front of Bar Luís in Pontedeume. It's the Hostal Allegue. Just in case there's no room in Bar Luís, of course. Great menú del día (available at night too!) in Bar Luís.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Hi!
My husband and I are doing El Camino Ingles in April for Easter week. Just wondering if you have to call in advance to get a room at the places you listed or if you can just show up?
Thanks so much in advance,
Nina

@Tincatinker . Thanks for your reply. I ended up getting hotels from booking.com and hotels.com for Ferrol, Pontedeume, Betaznzos, and Meson Novo. I figured we could "wing it" for Siguiro and Santiago. Do you know of any good places to stay in those two cities. We don't plan on taking a sleeping bag since most of the accomodations are not albergues and should have sheets.

Also, do they stamp your Credencial at the hotels too? or do you have to find little cafes? I read somewhere that there aren't too many options for food, so you have to pack in advance. Has this been the case with those that have done it?

We are headed there on April 13 and we are so excited!
Cheers from DC,
Nina

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

A good place to stay in santiago is Seminario major de Martin Pinario 50 yards from the cathedral. In siguerio there is a private Albergue del delia where you have a separate room with 2 bunk beds I would recommend. A few Km out of Siguerio there is an expensive Hotel on the Camino trail.
Buen Camino

We made sure to carry plenty of water and also emergency rations. There is little on some sections of either. Also places have a 'day off' so may not be open when you walk through, especially if it is Sunday. Some of the cafes near industrial places seem to only open work days in our experience. Other stages had several places to stop. That said we never went hungry as we always found a main meal, it was 'bocadillo' time that we needed some supplies. :)
We also booked for Sigueiro as it can be quite busy there and it proved a wise move.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

We lost a set of black Leki trekking poles today between Ferrol and Neda just past the Monastario de San Martino. We sat down for a rest near the top of the hill amidst the houses. The poles were...
