More information on cycling Lisbon to Porto

Hi my name is Liz. I am wanting to cycle the Camino from Lisbon to Porto and then walk from Porto to Santiago De Compostela. Has anyone done the cycle to Porto. I would like to know if I can follow the yellow arrows, the same as the walkers. I have heard that the first two days is through industrial areas. That there are not too many albergues, need to find hotels, and arrows are sometimes hard to find. Could anyone enlighten me on this.

Hi Liz my wife and I walked from Lisbon. Recently is a network from albergues on the leg to Porto.
The first in the network is Mario's albergue in Santarèm he can help you further on route . There is an albergue in Serdanelo just outside Mealhada. You can sleep at some bombeiros volontarios. Firestations a.o.in Tomar. There is a school in Cernache nearby Coimbra where you can sleep for free and in Albergaría-a-Velha you sleep for 3€ in a sanctuaria casa Diosecana a retraîte house with nuns.
On the Porto to Santiago leg are many albergues.
A lot of the caminho is off road but we saw many bikers.
So maybe one of the fellow forum and bikemembers can help you out

We were on the camiño in May last year, by the way we were this year on the camiño too but then in the north of Spain.
Sometimes we had some drizzle. One time a serious shower. In the morning it was chilly so we wore fleece vests.so wear your cloths in layers. And do not forget your fluorescent safey vest
There is a lot of of tarmac (busy roads) and Portugese drivers have a special style of driving, you probably are not used to.

For walkers the waymarking is excellent.
Why don't you drive the caminho Portuges da Costa ?
Last year I had contact via this forum with an American lady who biked from Lisbon to Porto the normal route but from Porto she drove the coastal via Vila do Conde,Esposende, Viana do Castelo, Caminha, A Guarda, Oia, Baiona Vigo to Redondela and from there to Pontevedra, Caldas de Reis en Padrón to Santiago. We have a forum caminho Portuges coastal.
We were last May and june along this Portugese coast and it is waymarked but as long as you keep the ocean to your left, you arrive in Redondela.

We loved the 2 camiños we walked. Next year we go again, God willing
