We are anxiously awaiting our July 7 departure for Le Puy. We have heard that this route goes thru some beautiful country and know that it will be just as fulfilling as the Frances. Leaving the fleece at home and hoping that is a good decision! Enjoy your Camino everyone. Buen Camino!
We are starting from Le Puy on July 10 and taking the Cele variant. Walking as far as Pamplona. We prefer warm weather to cold and are really hoping the crowds will not be too large. Also working on learning French. I hope the April/May pilgrims will keep us informed of all their highlights...
Thank you for your heads-up. We have changed our dates to leave the EU area before our 90 days is up. Looking forward to our walk from Le Puy in July. Hope the weather is not too hot. We have always walked in the Spring before. We are following the suggestions of where to stay and what to...
We are thinking of walking the Le Puy route starting in early July. I have not seen many posts regarding July starts. Our plan is to walk to Pamplona, taking the bus to Sarria or Tui for the walk into Santiago. After the walk we want to train thru Europe, seeing the sights until November, and...
Hi Sharon, My husband and I attempted to hike this path in mid October 2013. We had been to Italy a few years back and after hiking the Camino de Santiago twice we thought we'd like to hike the Way of St. Francis. Although we are in very good physical condition and hike an average of 6 plus...
Hi Ellen, Merry Christmas! I am originally from Erie but now live near Atlanta. My husband and I walked the Camino twice. In June 2010 from Astorga and May 2012 from SJPD. We loved both pilgrimages and plan to go back in 2015. I know you will have a wonderful experience. Enjoy each moment...
Latest info from the Atlanta Camino Group.
The APOC Atlanta Camino Group is planning 2013's Hike #3 for February 24th. It will be at Vickery Park in Roswell (directions are set out below). We will meet at the Riverside Road parking lot at 12:45 and start hiking at 1PM. (If you're on...
We are going to spend as much time as it takes to walk both routes. Never know when we will get back or be healthy enough to walk again.
In Portugal I was thinking of taking the train to Fatima, spend a few days there, and the bus or train to Porto for the final walk to Santiago.
Your...
There is a new chapter of the American Pilgrims of the Camino in Atlanta. In fact, there are two upcoming events.
This Sunday at 1:oo there is a walk at Stone Mountain, follwed by lunch at a local German Restaurant. Meet at the Confederate Hall.
On February 5th there is a meeting at the...
We are going on our first cruise in January. I have researched the cruise line, checked the videos on You Tube, learned all about the Bahamas. I know everything about the trip except one thing - will I like cruising? It is not for everybody, will it be for me? I might find people I don't...
Having finished the SJPdP to Santiago trip this past spring we are planning our next walk from Le Puy and are finding this topic very helpful. We like to stay in small hotels or pensions, rather than the albergues, for privacy and restful sleep. Are there only gites along this path, or a...
Patti and I walked from St Jean to Santiago in May/June of this year. A wonderful experience and now we are planning our next Camino. We are thinking of going from Le Puy to Lourdes, and onto Pamplona. Then take a bus to Fatima in Portugal and walk to Santiago on the Portugese route. We have...
We are going to Madrid on April 29 and starting the Camino on May 1. The months of planning and dreaming all come to fruition when you hit the 'submit' button when buying the airplane tickets. I think Delta is the big winner on the Camino. Buen Camino.
Good luck on your walk. We are leaving Georgia on April 29 and hope to get to SLPdP on the 30th. Start walking on May 1. Have booked a bunk in Orisson for that night. Hope to see you along the way. We also have started a blog on WordPress. How did you get your format with the background...
Thank you for your answers about Leon. I wasn't looking forward to that passage. I hear that the cathedral in Leon is beautiful, both inside and out. We should be flying out of Atlanta 4 months from today. Happy New Year and Buen Camino!
I have been reading a book about the Camino and the author mentioned the treacherous entry into Leon. It is also mentioned in Brierly's guidebook. Both mentions are a few years old and I am wondering if the intersection has been improved. Any recent ventures across this intersection? Of...
