Good luck ros1946, i walked last winter and started from sevilla on the 3rd of february all the way to sdc without any problems. As mentioned by peregrino2000 and information from peregrinos who reached sdc, there has not been any robberies committed at the start of the camino from sevilla or...
if madrid barajas airport is your destination, you can catch the cercanias, the commuter train to madrid atocha station to connect with the train for sevilla. there are many high speed trains that go to sevilla daily. example price for 15th of march at 1300 hour is 28.70 euros. duration of 2...
Hello maura,
50 days should be more than enough to go from sevilla to sdc with rest days in merida and salamanca.. I did this camino this past february in 36 days not including rest days starting from sevilla on the 3rd of february. You might also want to have a couple of rest days in ourense...
You can always go on amazon or ebay, buy a cheap unlocked tri-band or quad- band smartphone. Then all you have to do upon reaching spain is to buy a movistar or vodafone prepago (pay as you go) sim card as recommended by other peregrinos. You can also consider orange or yoigo. You can reload in...
Hello hueppi,
Welcome to the forum.
I am in and out of barajas frequently and have never seen any shop selling sim card. There maybe one but as i was not looking to buy a sim card, i have never look for one.
Buen camino.
hello daniel,
welcome to the forum.
there are 3 companies in sdc that will boxed your bicycle and send it to your destination. the price depends on whether it is to be sent to spain and also classified by zones outside of spain.. they will also come to the albergue to collect the bicycle. but...
weather last april has not been very encouraging. we do nçt know what the weather is going to be like. plus with the extra weight, i would not do it. also, there are many albergues available in the stages. however this is your camino, you do what is best for you. in my two long distance caminos...
how about flying into madrid and goes from there to sjpp? it will bve more convenient for you to fly home to the states. regular train service from sjpp to madrid takes 5 hours 44 minutes and also there is a night train with couchette that arrives in the early morning for your flight back to the...
to have short hair or long hair is a personal choice. my preference will be short hair as it is more manageable and tidy. nobody will really pay any attention even with gray hair showing. we have, including me, many senior citizens walking the caminos with greying or gray hairs.
buen camino.
hello beth-o,
i have not walked the cf in srptember. however i was working as a volunteer in sdc from mid-august to end of september and the weather was hot and only started raining closed to the end of september. highest temperatute in the 2nd half of september was 35 degree centigrade.
hello lucy,
you will never be alone in the cf in june, there will be hundreds of other peregrinos walking the route in june. you can walk along a group or you can walk on your own if you preferred.
buen camino.
i
i believe the so called bed race is a myth. many peregrinos are following the suggestion and recommendation of the guide books as to the stages. if you are flexible and be prepared to go off stage, you should not have any problem of finding a bed.
of course there are times when you will...
deanna,
you have already took your first step for the camino de santiago. you will be ok. there are many experienced and veteran peregrinos in this forum to help you in any ways we can.
good luck with your planning and buen camino.
hello trish,
as suggested and mentioned by falcon, colin and others, the eroski guide do mention the operators, but not all the operators in the locality. when you arrive at the pilgrim office in sjpp, you can ask for a list of all the operators and it will tell you whether it is private (casa...
a very warm welcome to all future peregrinos. we, the camino community in this forum, are here to help you in any ways possible. no question is ever too stupid to
ask. there will always be someone here who either have the experience or the knowledge to answer your question.
good luck on all...
