I am not an introvert, but I have found a lot of alone time on my seven casinos. I leave early 5:30-6:00 AM, ahead of the pack. I walk slowly (others pass me). Leaving villages you can again wait for groups to pass. It is best not to fear the unknown, meanwhile I am an advocate for Camino...
Places to apply a lock will be limited. I haven't sauntered during the summer so I always bring a light weight sleeping bag. I bought i poly-duvet and loaned it to friends for their summer Camino and they said they used it. Mine was from Costco and was too short for me 5'10".
Take care of yourself. Go later after more training. This isn’t one day, it repeats for several days. You might consider the Portuguese Litoral( along the coast) no hills for several days.
We stay at Hostal Viky in Barajas, They have a free shuttle from the airport (10 Minutes) and you can get a city bus to the train station from the town center (2 blocks away)
I have different sized and colored lightweight waterproof bags inside my pack. Categories with different colors... Blue/toiletries... Red/Rain... Purple/Sleep ... Etc.
"Bookings" is effective for finding and securing lodging but if you have any problems or need to cancel while in Spain. You will be frustrated. We found a Hostal closed with a cryptic note it was 3: PM. We found other lodging and were "charged". We were ahead of schedule (weather) and couldn't...
I second Annie’s good fortune. I never saw a Mac store but cords and adapters I’ve bought have worked well.
If you have an upper bunk and damaged feet they sell “pool noodles and zip ties” to pad the ladder.
You might look at smaller villages or “out of town” Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter will be the busiest. Someplaces practice Holy Week and Easter week. Trying to book rooms will expose crowding.
I wore regular training shoes until the rains in Galicia. I put on the goretex and foolishly didn't put on my gaiters. Deep puddle and the water filled the shoe and never left. Gaiters with Goretex or shoes that dry.
This bag I've added to a water bottle holder, it has straps below that hold my rain jacket. One strap so I can swing it to the front to access a jacket or snack
I bought it at a thrift store and have added a water bottle holder. It has straps where I can tie my rain jacket and I can swing it around to access contents. I know it isn't micro but somehow it is the right size for me
We found it difficult on Bookings to cancel or change reservations using our cell phone. Open Bookings map to see locations and if possible cross reference your Camino Guide. Bookings is unresponsive to any phone link, we had to eat fees for paid reservations . We had one albergue leave a critic...
Thank you for your service to the Caminos. My wife, Pamela Grubaugh-Littig and I have had the joy of being Hospitalero and Host and would welcome the opportunity again in 2024. We are on a fixed budget so finding an appointment in September or October would give us the advantage of finding...
