    You were just lucky. Or walking weekdays and off season. That area is very touristic. Prices have been exploding lately. And accommodation tends to be booked out. Also please note that there were heavy wildfires this summer. Probably lots of damage to the woods and the trail on the Malerweg :(

    The Via Imperil does not stopp in Berlin. I walked last year the stretch Berlin-Leipzig and liked it a lot. Especially passing Wittenberg with all its history of reformation/Martin Luther/Cranach In Leipzig the Via Imperil joins Via Regia/Oekumenischer Pilgerweg. You can keep on walking - Ultreia!

    I just talked to Casa Paderborn: If you arrive early in the day, you have best chances to find a bed. They don't take reservations. It's walk-in only. But the passed couple of days they still had capacity to host pilgrims.
