Cycled Leon to Santiago in May this year over 6 days, make sure you get a good bike, between Leon and Sarria not busy but from Sarria on gets very busy. Took some roads, mainly around OCerbrio, that day from Ponferrada was the most difficult, 54km took me nearly 7 hours with only one short stop...

If it is any help I did Leon to santiago on bicycle doing 50 to 60 km per day, some days it took 7 hours as the mountains very difficult but you will enjoy it, I road bike n 80 km no prob to me but the mountain bike on this terrain is difficult but u will be grand. Take a few breaks each day n...

Hi Leigh just back from camino having cycled from Leon to Santiago. I travelled alone as female in late forties, self guided but stayed in hotels, 3 star, had a really lovely time, nice food every nite, lovely wine but one doesn't meet too many people until Sarria. probably better walking but...
Good luck, just back after 6 days cycling from Leon to Santiago on mountain bike, small so only 26 inch wheel which my quads paid dearly for. Great experience as I was female on my own, the mountains were very challenging, cycling 50 to 70 per day but met lovely people, stayed in nice hotels...
Agree with the above, just cycled same yesterday, challenging but great, Astorga to ponferrada another storey, up up up all the way but the downhill great
Yesterday just As I reached Astorga I was complimented as being a rare breed because I was using my bell to warn walkers of my arrival, man told me on their 20 km trip not one cyclist had warned them of their approach causing the walkers great annoyance, please respect others on the camino...
Leon to Astorga 50 km, but terrain difficult and I stuck
to the pilgrims terrain a lot, bit of difficulty as some roads not clearly signed, took me about 5 hours on bike without stoping, that was yesterday.
Today I cycled from Astorga to Ponferrada which while only 56km on the cyclists road...
Hi Michelle leaving Leon on bike on May 9th, bit apprehensive too as booked on whim but here goes, hope to meet a few people for drinks at nite on way as travelling alone, best of luck, I booked my bike from bikeiberia as they do ladies bikes, wil deliver to hotel etc
Great topic as I am cycling from Leon mid May n in my innocence thought the weather would be warm. Like yourself I plan on shorts but thanks to this thread I will pack leggings n change during day. All the running gear is v light weight, look out for the lidl or aldi specials
