Is there demand for an alternative but integretated hostal/albergue in O Cebreiro?

Well @Ryan Alexander I would do it if I could and if I were to retire now! Why not? Listen to Rebekah Scott for advice and we hope you already have the deep pockets! Go for it!

Late October Camino Portugues, No Sleeping Bag?

As SYates says and most people above said - definitely a sleeping bag. In my case an ultralight sleeping bag under 400 gr and it has been with me on all my caminos (about 130 nights) during winter and summer during many years. Sprayed with Permethrin keeps the bugs away. After the camino it is...

Public transport from Vigo Airport to Viana do Castelo

Hola! I have taken s bus from Santiago to Viana do Castelo a couple of times. You have to get to the bus station in Vigo and see the time tables. Some buses are direct some with a change in Tui or Valenca. So when you get to Vigo or Valenca there might be more options from there. So no worries!

    Ferry/Boat to A Guarda?

If you want a ride across the river Minho with Captain Mario you do not have to and should not walk to the city center of Caminha at all. Captain Mario is operating from the beach hotel a couple km to the west of Caminha. To reach him you will keep on walking on the western side of the railway...

    My Ruta del Ebro (2016)

@peregrina2000 Thank you for your update on our etapas! Actually - I lost my note book so your notes are welcome! I miss you, too and I really enjoyed walking the Ruta del Ebro with you (actually I walked in your foot steps - always 20- 60 min after you). Later probably one day I will take up...

    Vuelta 2016

@SabineP I was in SDC - when the final stage of the La Vuelta reached SDC in 2014. And I saw Alberto Contador and the others bicycling the final stage and greeting them in the evening show at the Obradoiro. We saw the teams on other stages also in Portugal and in Galicia. WoW! ...but this...

albergues on the portuguese coastal route??

@MplsYogi It is up to you and how you feel in Caminha. Maybe you will decide when and what time you will be in Caminha. The ferry from Caminha to A Guarda does not cross the river Minho on Mondays. Low tide changes/ cancels the time table sometimes. Both ways are great caminos. Bom caminho.

Coastal Route Starting in Porto in Mid-December 2016

Good advice and good points. I don´t want to destroy you planning your first camino. But.. You will most probably be the one and only pilgrim. Are the albergues still open in December? Count on many cold rainy days in torrential downpour. How to get your soaking wet clothes dry in an unheated...

Best parts of Lisbon to Porto

I walked every step from Lisbon to Santiago in Maj- June 2015 and to Finisterre and would not want to skip any parts of it. Love it all and will be returning to Portugal.

Hola! 1) According to gronze.com it is open. 2) I contacted a friend in Spain and he knows Odette the hospitalera who is serving there now. He says it is open. 3) It was open about 4 weeks ago when I was around. 4) I did send an e- mail to the albergue but no answer yet (they must be busy...

Oviedo is about 450 km away from Madrid. At least 7-8 hours by bus.

    BCN-IRUN. How to get?

I think the easiest way to get downtown Barcelona is the Airport coach (bus) about € 5.90 from the airport to the Plaza Catalonya. There is an Alsa bus alsa.es leaving at 7 am but you won´t make it! Other bus companies maybe have other departures. Or stay in Barcelona one day, enjoy the city...

Madrid airport to chamartin, how long it takes?

Your timing is very tight. What about if your flight is late a couple of minutes as usually they are in the late afternoon. I do not understand all this RUSH to the camino. Please, have lots of time next time so you don´t have to worry about this.

How much does your Backpack weigh?

On the camino frances anything over 6 - 7 kg with water and snacks in the summer season is too heavy.

From Vilo do Conde to Rates

I would start walking from the Sé Cathedral in Porto which is the natural starting point for me in Porto and where you can obtain your credentials in the tourist office just outside the Cathedral, get your first stamp, see the cloisters and walk down to the river and follow the river to the...
