If people stop their walking about 2 o'clock each day...

I always try to stop before 2, and I never get bored .... In the afternoon you need time to wash your clothes, take a shower, write your journal, walk (a little !) around the albergue (that is good for the legs), plan the next day, talk with other pilgrims, have a little nap etc .... As the...

how long does it really take to walk to Finisterre?

In 2006 I did it in three days. There were not a lot of accomodations, so I didn't really had the choice. I remember three very peaceful and beautiful days walking, after all the people on the Camino Frances. It was like a beautiful epilogue, and I really loved Fisterra.

Hi, first Camino starting 25th Sept

Hi, 22h25 is really very late to arrive at the Albergue. And even if you find one, you will disturb the pilgrims who try to sleep before the long day between SJPP and Roncesvalles. I thinck it's better for you to sleep at Bayonne, and arrive at SJPP only the day after. You will have time to...

    Backpack too small?

I have a Lowe Alpine 45L, and it's definitely too big for me (I think a good third is empty). But on the other hand, my 45 is not very heavy (1.75 kg), so I would not earn a lot of weight with a 35L (may be 200 gr. ?). And it's good to have some empty space for when I buy some bread :)

    reading on the camino

On the albergues you usually find books to read (those left by the others pilgrims, tired to carry them !). If you write a diary, after some weeks, you will have your own book to read !

    DSLR-camera on the camino

I had once my D90 + 35 f/1.8 on the Camino. I carried them with a Lowepro Nova shoulder bag (a good little shoulder bag, with rain cover). That worked and I'm happy with the pictures ... However, my last time on the Camino I took only a little compact camera "point and shoot", a Lumix LX5...

    July-Aug 2011; is a sleeping mat required?

When I first started the Camino I had one. Like a lot of pilgrims I was thinking : "what if one day I can't find a place to sleep ?". After a week of carrying it without using it, I left it. As it is said, in most albergues you can find one, or borrow it :)

    Bed Bugs - Le Puy

On le Chemin du Puy, everybody seems to freak out with the bed bugs. I've recently done the Chemin du Puy, and I've seen only one pilgrim that had problems with bed bugs. (she had to wash all her clothes and put her backpack on the freezer).

How many days did it take you? why? did you take rest days?

It took me 30 days also from SJPP to Santiago. If you are afraid to be short in days, I think it's better to start some days after SJPP (Pamplona, for example), and at the end, if you have some days left, to go to Fisterra. I've met lot of pilgrims who were in a hurry because they had to...

    Hello everybody !

Hi everybody ! :) I've just discovered this forum. It looks very great  I live near Bordeaux, in France. I'm 31 years old. In 2006 I went from Navarenx (Chemin du Puy - 3 days before SJPP) to Fisterra. This summer we've done a little 2 weeks trip, from Le Puy en Velay to Cahors...
