Hey fellow pilgrims,
I'm wondering what an appropriate sleeping bag might look like for a casual summer hike from Le Puy to Santiago, from late May to mid-August. I might also bring a tent so would need to take camping into consideration. Thanks for your help!
Hey johnnyman, I had the same experience as newfydog; you should call your bank and see what they charge for using your debit or credit card overseas. My bank charged $5 Canadian per transaction (mastercard) at ATMs in Europe with the regular exchange rate which was as good as I saw anywhere...
Hey Matt,

Looks like you had a wonderful time!

Hey all,
I walked from St Jean to Finisterre from September 28-November 1 (2010), but just now feel the urge to share my pics, which you can find here:

I should note ahead that after finishing walking, I went from Santiago to meet my...
Hi Marjorie,
I think Sil is right ... you should have plenty of time to walk the whole way to Santiago without missing anything! You probably even have time to walk to Finisterre and Muxia before catching your flight on June 15. You will probably find that you might not adhere to your 20...
Hey Chignecto,
The best detour I took, and the best day of walking for me on the camino Frances this past October, was the detour out of Villafranca through Dragonte and two more mountains after that and meets back up with the other route just before La Faba. The scenery is incredible, you...
Carli,
You are certainly right that a knife is aggressive, and no, I was not prepared to use it, but it's all I had after a hostel in Madrid threw my staff in the garbage :( :( :(
I think you are right, that a whistle would track attention from one's surroundings, although in this...
Hey all,
I just finished my camino from St Jean to Finisterre on November 1. It was the best experience I have ever had in my life! So after traveling around Spain for 10 days with my best friend and feeling completely lost in big cities, I decided to return to Logrono and walk back east into...
Hey does anyone know if it is a big production to switch trains at Bayonne before heading out to SJPP?
My train arrives in Bayonne at 15h03 on Sept 27 and departs Bayonne 7 minutes later at 15h10 for SJPP.
So I booked my flight to Paris for September 25 - arriving Sept 26 and taking a train to SJPP on the 27th to start walking on the 28th.
How peculiar that L'esprit du Chemin closes its season the day I arrive in St Jean!!
What is the next best place to stay in SJ?
Thanks
HI
my name is Justine and I am walking the Camino Francés starting around September 11-12 from St Jean PP. Should be flying into Paris on the 8th or 9th of September. It'd be nice to talk to anyone who is going around the same time from Canada also, or just starting from SJ. Looking forward...
Thank you Claire! I am navigating these train websites much better now.
Does anyone have experience using the SNCF youth card? Because the adult and youth prices appear to be the same on raileurope.
~so many questions~ thanks again!
I checked the SNCF website for a train from Paris to SJPP September 10 and there is apparently only one train leaving at 13h37: CHARLES DE GAULLE 2 TGV (95) - ST JEAN PIED DE PORT (64)? Does that sound right? I thought there was an overnight train. THe one leaving at 1330 also takes over 8...
