Caceres to Santiago Oct 8th to Nov 8th... q on how cold?

Anyone walked around these dates and could you share any info on the type of sleeping bag you brought? Were you happy as you got more north with your choice?

I know its going to get colder as I get North just going pretty minimal pack and deciding between a heavier bag or mid rated bag.

Well I'm happy your going on your Camino. I know it's going to be a blast for ya'. I'm planning to walk the VdlP roughly the same time you are. I'm planning to be starting from Seville on October 3. I do not mean to question your planning, but to me, your gonna be going a touch slow. I don't know your circumstances as to why, but I'm planning to do the same streach your doing in 17-18 days.
To answer your question about the weather. Everything I've read it seems that we should expect upper 70°f during the days and low to mid 50s at night. That being said, it is weather. I am going to be taking my raincoat and pants. Not so much for the rain, but for the wind. It can get pretty chilly up in those mountains. I walked the Camino Frances March-April 2012. Was chilly!! I'm not planning for a lot of rain. But I'll still have my gear. I have a light cuccoon type sleeping bag I think will serve me ok.
I don't know if this is your first Camino or hiker, but if it is, really really think about what your taking. I saw all these people running around with 40-65 liter backpacks. Yes 65 liter bag!!! I had the smallest one at 26 liters and am really thinking about going down to a 20 liter backpack!!

I've done the trip later in the year twice (late October-early December, and mid November-late December) and didn't carry a sleeping bag either time. It did get cooler further north (I got mild frost-bite in freezing fog near Zamora) and very wet in Galicia, but I never regretted the lack of a sleeping bag - all the albergues had blankets, and they were mostly empty at that time of year, so there were always plenty to go round when I needed more than one (Mombuey).

God Bless you Sir!!! I personally would prefer my cuccoon sleeping bag. I know exactly who's been sleeping in it. It snowed in Roncesvalles and my light bag was more than enough!!

I can't comment on sleeping bags, as I've never carried one, but I have walked the VDLP several times in October and November. It's generally been cold in the mornings, but warms up pretty quickly. My go-to items: light gloves for the first hour or so walking, and compression socks and/or arm sleeves, which are very lightweight and small to pack, but keep you very warm.
