I will be heading on the 23rd May to Somport. I want to start my walk on 24th. I have read that this Camino is not too populated. Do you agree?... or do you think that I should have to book beds in the Albergues in advance?
Thank you
Robert

Hi, I walked from Somport to Obanos in late September of 2012 and found the route to be MUCH less crowed than the Camino Francés. There was no need to book reservations, I had no problem finding accommodations. Spring season could be a different story, but it may still be cold up there and ski season is finished---in May the summer vacationers from Spain and other parts of Europe won't be there yet either, so chances are good you won't run into a lot of people. It's a beautiful route---have fun, and Buen Camino!

No need to book in May,we walked last year from Somport, loved the snowy Pyrenees. We don't get snow here in Perth !
We had to take care on the stage to Canfranc estacion then no problems. Very cold at night and early morning.
We had a friendly group of around 20 pilgrims who would meet up at the albergues along the way. Loved it!

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

You're going to live this route! Be sure to catch the bus from Jaca to the Monastery. You can either bus back to Jaca it walk from there. Fantastic!

Thank you very much for your replies. I will give an update when I am back. I am definately very excited about walking this route.

In 2015 I plan to start in Oloron Sainte Marie. I had planned on doing it in 2014 but then a friend wanted to join me and do the CF for her first Camino, she dropped out about a week ago but because I'd already made reservations at Orrison and am an animal of habit, I'll wait another year. I love what I have heard about the route.
