Hello Folks,
For some time I have been thinking about applying for my certificate of distance from Ivar. After rummaging about in a box I found my Pilgrim's credencial..
I opened up my pilgrim's log book to get the relevant details and small piece of paper slipped out and fluttered on to the carpet. Wondering what it was, i bent down to pick it up and found that the piece of paper had an inscription written on it.
I started to read and felt as if I had been struck by a thunderbolt, as I read the words that I had last read two years ago. I was back in the albergue Santa Maria in Carrion de los Condes with the nuns. The nuns had given everyone a small tyewritten, slip of paper, with a Biblical message on it.I am not sure if the message was unique to each one of us but here is mine that I had forgotten about but placed protectively, inside my pilgrim record book.
''No one lights a lamp and covers it; instead it is put on a lampstand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way your light must shine before others, so that they may see the good you do and praise your Father in Heaven.''
(Mt 5, 15-16)

I would like to ask you four questions:
1, Have you stayed at this albergue, Santa Maria?
2, Did you meet the nuns?
3, Have you still got the inscription?
4, What does it say? (If you don't mind – I know it's a personal thing).
Reading that message after so long, nearly pole-axed me. I felt as if every person, characters, pilgrims and new friends that I had met on my Camino had all turned up en masse at my home and walked into my lounge.
I think Ivar and I can wait a while longer before I apply for the distance certificate.
