Are there mosquitos on the Camino de Santiago in May?

The question was:

I attract mossies like no-one else I know. Are there mosquitos on the VdlP in May? If so, I’ll take a mossie net – any thoughts?

  1. Yes, I’d like to know as well since I will be on the Camino from May to June. I remember seeing mosquitoes in October hovering above my bed in El Burgo Ranero but then again that “albergue” was pretty bad.

  2. I was there in sept and oct 2011, there are no bugs at all, no bugs, no birds ….eerily absent. But.. inGalicia there are flies- and they go to sleep at night! and don’t bite.

  3. was there May/June 2012 – no problems – odd nibble, but you could quickly see them in the evening and simply go in – through the day, no worries
