Camino Francés over Christmas/New year?

Christmas Camino de Santiago

The question was:

I’m not long back from my first assault on the Camino Frances which took me from SJPdP as far as Burgos. It was such a great experience, much more than I dared expect and obviously I have to finish it! Now I’m toying with the idea to walk just after Christmas and into the New Year starting in Burgos. Would be really interested to hear advice from anyone else considering doing the same or who has travelled this part of the camino around this time of year.

  1. I have walked the Camino in winter, and I found it to be quite peaceful! None of the summer mad rush, plenty of time for deep thought. My wife and I brought a tent and camping stove which we used a lot due to almost all of the albergues being closed! Also bring good cold weather gear, it snowed from Pamplona to Leon.
