This is very large albergue on the east of Ponferrada near the famous castle. Here hospitaleros usually offer each pilgrim a
refreshing tea upon arrival. On the ground floor is a well equipped
pilgrim kitchen and dining area.
One large second floor space serves as a library with computers, but in
high season can sleep over-flow pilgrims. Most bunks are generally
arranged in several small dorms which feel cramped. Those plastic
mattress covers can be VERY noisy! In late autumn and winter when there
are few pilgrims both sexes share the same toilet/shower room which can
be problematic since the showers face the urinals.
Miserable night sleeping in the basement. Stuffy, loud. Has a kitchen. Showers so so. Beautiful simple chapel with a lovely service though.
This is al large albergue, but you have all you find, a bed in little rooms, a shouer with warm water, a very good kitchen an place to eat and in the first floor a place to sit and have time for yourself.
