  1. I would not recommend this hostel. Expensive at 15 euro per person in a seven person room with two having to share a double bed. Shower was dreadful and was not attached to wall, so had to hold shower head while trying to wash. An unpleasant first night on the Camino. Auberge in Orisson a much better experience.

  2. Not value at the price. Shower poor, and one cannot enjoy a fart on the toilet without the occupants of the room hearing!! Owner not pleasant, and a poor breakfast on top.

  3. Liked it a lot. This “gite” was not mentioned in the guidebooks and we found it by
chance, just walking down the main street of Saint-Jean. The ancient house is lovely and very comfortable. Would highly recommend it, especially for a fist night on the road: lots of space to get your stuff together, nice kitchen to cook dinner, great location in the center of the old city. Owners are former pilgrims themselves; very reliable and provided helpful advice.

  4. Very nice place. Beautiful building. Slept in the attic bedroom; the bed was comfortable. The kicthen facilities are very nice too, and the breakfast is a good deal. Strongly disagree with previous negative comments: guys, this is the Camino, not some cruise to the Carribean.

  5. Gite Ultreia is wonderful! Bernard and Fifi are extraordinarily welcoming and accommodating. I stayed three nights there last week, slept in the attic and on the second floor and both areas are wonderfully comfortable. I can report that the gite is spotless, showers very good and breakfast perfect for France/Spain – fresh bread, coffee, hot chocolate and tea, jams and butter. The location is very accessible to the pilgrim office and the church.

  6. Great place! Terrific location (in the center of the old city); nice atmosphere (lovely building, very nice shared kitchen, rooms are comfortable); great breakfast. Owners are very welcoming – and knowledgeable about the Way of Santiago.
