Can I stay at an albergue the first night on my Camino de Santiago?

The question was:

Would we be eligible to stay in the Albergue in Tui on the night before we start or do we need to book local accommodation?

  1. I don’t think there are any albergues open at night at less those are private. I also don’t recommend walking at night on the Camino because it’s too dark, there are not clear Camino signs on the roads which by the way are not litted at all at less there is a full moon, there is no place where you can get drinking water, you can get lost, attack by dogs or even a wolf. I doubt you also would find another Pilgrim on the Camino at night, and there are no Police or security people walking the Camino at night or even around the towns at night. Please think of all the risks before walking el Camino at night and if you do, try not to do it alone! Buen Camino Peregrino!
