The travelers' rest

At a fantastic mostly-vegetarian cafe in (I believe) Valdeviejas after Astorga
@KerrieG Hi Kerrie! I would say it completely depends on the place. This particular cafe is very tiny, and everyone was just grabbing food inside and then mingling around outside. I do sometimes leave my pack outside or wander away from it while inside but it's just important to always be vigilant of course :)

Sadly no longer run by Pilar, haven't been since she left. Her food, welcome and personality was one of the joys of the camino.

Oh what a shame that she no longer runs it. We had a terrible night's sleep in Astorga and stumbled upon this spot for breakfast. She had been up late for a local celebration and was back at it with a line up out the door. I was so indecisive about the delicious choices that I bought food for lunch too. No regrets!
