New markers just before the motorway overpass outside of ScD. According to pilgrim office, the government is changing the route in order for pilgrims from Portugal to have a more direct entrance into the cathedral square and office with all the renovations. The left one is the 'correct' one.
@HalfDomeOrBust just before you come to the AC-543 overpass. The guy in the pilgrim office said it's fairly new and they hope to have mileage plates on it before summer.
I took (and what is supposed to be the 'original' route) the left side, which takes you up through a new apartment block (there is a new marker at the end of that block) and then up the hill past the university and from there I got lost due to no yellow arrows anywhere, so I just followed signs to the cathedral.
Thank you HalfDomeOrBust. I haven't found this place approaching Santiago along the Camino Frances. The AC-543 enters the Westside of Santiago, so may be it is on another Camino?
Furthermore, I guess that your advise is going right-side. Is it right?
@Lucio Cassia I took this picture, not HalfDomeOrBust, and it's on the Camino Portugues. If you are on that Camino, you can go either direction, but the original camino is on the left.
PORTUGUESE ROUTE last few kms into Santiago. Very confusing . Even JB guidebook
notes confusing . Majority went left .
We took right arrow - as while a little longer this route ambles through lanes and streets and single story houses with huertas compared to busy main street and apartments. When we connected back into main route there was absence of arrows. Hopefully improvements with a few more arrows ....
