A beautiful start to our Portuguese Camino in 2015. My wife and I slept on the beach (arriving late the previous night) and started walking at around 7am to reach (past) Vila Do Conde where we unrolled our mats and sleeping bags once again!
It was quite cold early morning as we had no shelter from the morning dew settling on us and we had sleeping bags that were cheap 1-2 season and very thin. We packed for compactness and these sleeping bags rolled up really small in our backpacks. We didn't really take into account the dampness in the air or temperatures etc. as we thought in July it wouldn't make much difference.
So after our first Camino we've decided this year, as we're travelling in May, to get new 3 season sleeping bags (down) and take a tarp and rope with us, then buy the tent pegs in Lisbon before we head off. (We avoid paying extra for our backpacks by checking in with just hand/cabin luggage so we can't take certain items with us!)

Thank you. I will be doing Porto to SDC in June. Here in Canada it can still be a bit fresh in the mornings. I got the sense of chill from your picture. I usually dress in layers so weather is not an issue. I join the central route after Vila do Conde where the coastal winds are diminished by intervening landscapes.
I am walking with my daughter who has never walked a Camino. As we prepare we will keep the coast part of our route in mind.
