Resting after a long day
F
I love this! Really captures the moment of relaxing, regaining your strength, moments in solitude but united in a common goal! Great shot!!

I've been here as a pilgrim and as a hospitalero. It is indeed a most magical and spiritual place.

Good for you. For me the magic happens when being in such humble places like Granon or Tosantos because I receive unconditional acceptance and a feeling of brotherhood. Despite the humble surroundings I often had the most meaningful talks preparing the food /singing or just quietly listening to the stories of other peregrinos.
Yes it is a spartan environment with the mats but I will keep frequenting these albergues and give a royal donativo.
And of course the next day I might stop in a more luxurious pension to keep up on some sleep should this be necesssary.

I stayed in this wonderful Albergue last May. Arrived wet and cold after an hours walk-through hail shower. A magical place. What a lovely photo. Warm and welcoming.

I have played the guitar there a couple of times...:) A good place but hard mattresses...;) Oh well, a good pilgrim experience.

I needed this place, Granon. I had done two double stage days (Estella to Viana and then Viana to Najera) and made it a light day going from Najera to Granon. Funny that 27km felt like a light day. Cool community dinner with Americans, Danes, Germans, Hungarians, and Italians

The evening reflection was quite appropriate

This was a magical place for me. The cafe across the street had the best playlist of music, so after a relaxing afternoon of singing-along to some great tunes, we headed into this beautiful, peaceful sanctuary. I felt as though I had taken a step back in time. THIS was what I had imagined for my camino! I was on a spiritual, not religious pilgrimage, but I felt so at home and comfortable in this albergue and loved the communal preparing of the food, the table, the eating together - even the mats! I loved it that those who wanted to participate in the mass after dinner were welcomed, but those of us who just wanted to relax didn't feel any pressure to attend. Everyone has their own journey and I found that some of my best experiences were in the most humble of places. Thank you Granon and thank you Camino - I can't wait to visit you again!

first the common prepared meal:

the hum of a pilgrim meal:

and then the washing up:

All this was worth it !!
