After 5 Camino I have only experienced this sort of "student" crowd 2 times. I guess I'm lucky.

@Stellaluna I just had a mild freak out when I saw the photo, not keen on walking with the crowd. We are walking from Leon 3rd of May so fingers and toes crossed that the traffic will be a little less.

@Karen2017 I walked in July 2016 and was never bothered by a crowd.

That's reassuring. I did expect these kinds of crowds for the last 100km but was worried that it might be similar along the whole of the Camino.
Also, Rick, how did you find the July heat? As a winter-loving Canadian that worries me a bit as I will be leaving in early-July.

I hiked in July and never saw anything remotely like that. I'd normally do around 30km to 40km per day...starting around 5:00. I'd grab lunch and most people would stop for the day and I'd soldier on...every afternoon I had the Camino all to myself...I very rarely saw other peregrinos.
