Unfortunately I arrived in Ponferrada late on a Sunday just as the castle was closing. Most days the castle closes between 2 & 4 pm (1400/1600) but on Sundays there is not "evening session" and of course like many museums / historical places its closed on Mondays. So I did not get the visit. I will have to adjust my walking schedule next May to arrive here between Tuesday and Saturday. Good photo!

@Saint Mike II Thanks for the photo comment. I left my albergue early the morning of my castle visit and arrived in Ponfradda early in the afternoon. That night, I splurged and stayed at the Templar Hotel which is just around the corner from the castle. The hotel was small and inexpensive and included breakfast. The cost was under $40 US if I recall correctly. Buen Camino.
