I will be walking from Girona to Olot to Vic and back to Girona between 27 or 28 June 2022 and 4 July. I am at the 'very confused' stage of my planning (distances, route, accommodation) and would therefore appreciate support from anyone who knows the area. The following week I will walk from Vic to Montserrat and then Barcelona before I come back home here in Edinburgh.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

I walked the route that is marked by the Generalitat from Llançà to Montserrat, and it goes through Girona and on to Vic. I describe my stages here. The route does not go through Olot, but there is a trail connecting the Camino to Olot, and it is not too far. You can find lots of details in this planning thread. Plenty of information on tracks for the route, accommodation, stages, etc.

It’s beautiful. Is there a reason why you decided to walk Girona to Vic and back to Girona rather than starting earlier on the camino and stopping in Vic? Or alternatively, starting in Girona and going all the way to Montserrat?

Hi Tamsin, it sounds like a wonderful hike, and you'll be walking in a very pretty and still rural parts of Catalunya through the comarques of the Gironès, La Garrotxa, and Osona. I'm thinking you'll want to plan 2-3 days for each of your major stops (Girona > Olot > Vic) depending on how fast you walk and how much time you want to spend exploring.

I'm assuming you're following one of the Via Verde routes between Girona and Olot. The route is online: https://www.viasverdes.com/en/itineraries/itinerario.asp?id=52 (see the "Description" section).

On the route between Girona and Olot, you might consider staying in Sant Feliu de Pallerols, as it's a large enough town to stay and eat, with a pretty river running through. Outside of Sant Feliu, there is a lovely B&B run by a very welcoming couple (he's from Scotland and she's Catalana) called the Rectoria de Sant Miquel de Pineda. The rooms are comfortable, and the food is local and excellent. There's a 12th century romanesque church next to the house, and if asked, they'll give you a tour.

I totally agree with @anamcara about Girona. It's a great, small city. It was very quiet until it became a site for "Game of Thrones" tourism. It's worth exploring the medieval part of the city up high on the hill, the cathedral, and "El Call," the old Jewish quarter.

Please post more to share what you learn about these hikes.

Thank you very much. I had planned 2 days per leg, but if I need more I must change my travel plans! I didn't know about that VV link, so thank you very much. And thanks for the recommendations. Coming from Scotland myself, that's a good rec although I wonder if I will be able to afford it.
I will definitely post when I am doing / have done it.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Tamsin are you aware of the ’Camino Catalan’ guide by Callum J. Christy, published by Catalunya. First published March 2021? It’s all in the guide and more.

No, that hasn't shown up in any of my searches, but thank you very much.

Yes, I am making this triangular walk and then returning to Girona for a walking conference where I will be taking delegates along the parts of the CC in each of the 3 towns/cities. Once the conference has ended, I will resume from Vic and continue to Montserrat and thence Barcelona.
Thank you very much for your support. I will follow up those leads and threads.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

I should add that the walking conference is happening in universities in each of the 3 places, starting in G, moving (by bus) to O and then (again by bus) to V where it ends. 😊

This looks to be a wonderful opportunity to walk through what looks to be very interesting lanscape. In the planning thread we went a bit crazy between Olot and Vic - there are many many options there, and so you'll find a number of tracks and maps on the that thread.

Hello all, one week to go (UK trains allowing) and I am wondering - paper maps (there seem to be 4 which cover the Girona-Olot-Vic region) or a GPS device (I have never used one) or smartphone with wikilocks map downloaded. Or all or....? I am concerned about getting lost, perticularly between Olot and Vic and Vic and Girona (in those directions) Please can you help?
