Time of past OR future Camino
Muxia, Ingles
After 2 years of delay my wife and I and excited to finally do the Camino Ingles and then to Fisterra and Muxia! We are flying from the US and will arrive in Santiago at 410 pm on June 24. And then taking a bus to Ferrol. Considering jet lag and bus availability we would love recommendations. Should we...
1 take and evening bus to Ferrol on the 24 and start the next day after getting our credentials.
2 spend the first night in Santiago and take a bus the next morning to Ferrol and then start
3 spend the first night in Santiago, take a bus the next morning in Ferrol, and then start the following day.
We are open to any other advice!
Beun Camino!

Definitely number 3! Enjoy the sights of SdC and Ferrol before you begin to walk.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

These are both lovely Caminos so you will enjoy I'm sure.
I'd go for your last option ie take your time, enjoy both cities (Ferrol has a lot to see) then start walking once you're acclimatised and coping with any jet lag.
Buen Camino.

I would choose option 1, getting to Ferrol on the same day. To me, arriving in Santiago is the prize, and once the Camino is completed you are free to enjoy the city.
Attached is some bus & rail information from Rome2rio, always good to confirm its accuracy with MONBUS or RENFE indepently.
If you are arriving in Santiago by train/bus you leave from same place. If you arrive to the airport, there are frequent busses, a cab is less than 15 minutes to the new Estación Intermodal. Buen Camino! Aymarah

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I assume you are connecting in Madrid before flying to Santiago. Could you not instead fly to La Coruna (A Coruna)? You could spend a day there, instead of seeing Santiago (assuming your first Camino) and then go the short distance to Ferrol the next day.

We are actually flying through Dublin to Santiago.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
#3. I did it last summer and it having the extra days really helped with my jet lag. There was a great street art exhibit on one of the neighborhoods in Ferrol when I was there last August. Lots of murals all over the neighborhood.

Thank you all for your input! What about taking a taxi from the Santiago airport to Ferrol?

I haven’t done it, but it looks doable if you want to pay for it. I have taken a cab to Finisterre which looks to be about the same distance. Be sure and ask about the price before hand. I have paid very different prices to/from Finisterre. With the increase in gas prices I can’t guess what the cost would be but Rome2rio says 100-140 euros

There's a bus every couple of hours from Santiago to Ferrol, and buses in Spain are so cheap. When I did the Inglés I left the car in Ferrol because the parking was free and caught the bus back to Ferrol from Santiago. Easy.

Hi, we flew from Dublin to Santiago on 25th April, arriving same time as you will. We got a taxi to the bus station, 21euro. Plenty of time to catch the 18.00hrs bus to Ferrol, 1.5hr journey. Restful views of the countryside. I'd keep Santiago till the end of the walk, as already mentioned and Ferrol is well worth a look around. Buen camino.

We did more or less the same as above. Taxi into Santiago to ensure we caught the last bus of the day. The bus ride was excellent. Lovely views. Ferrol was fine, but one day was enough.
If you've not been to Santiago before then I'd be saving that first glimpse for the final day of walking. I feel seeing it before would be a bit like having to wrap your own Christmas presents. I've been doing that for years now and it's always a little disappointing.
Buen Camino.
