Problem on the Camino Olvidado

This one’s for you Laurie.After Cistierna and you cross the bridge you come to the turn off to the right for Yugueros. If you don’t take this turning and carry straight on you come to the turn off for San Pedro de la Foncollada. At this turn off there was a sign saying Ruta 3 Roblon de Modino 2Km. There was also another sign pointing straight on parallel with the road. On it was a yellow arrow and a white mark with a name. I can’t remember what it was. I followed the route to the right. After a while the path entered an area where the trees had been cleared. I fought my way through the scrub and after a good while I eventually found the correct Path again.I have my theory about what is happening here but it would be better if someone like Ender could shed some light on this matter as it could cause a big problem for other Perigrinos. I did call one of the Hospitaleros in Cistierna but I’m not sure if I understood him correctly But I think he said it’s not an official route. Cheers, Mick.

Hmmm, Ender is out of commission for a while, but I will make sure to bring this to his attention when he’s back. Thanks for the heads up. I never did find the turnoff to San Pedro de la Foncollada, and it seems from what you say that I just turned off the main trail (where the Olvidado and Vadiiniense are merged) too soon. What I remember most about that stage was the plethora of bike routes all over the place.

Looking at the guide at elcaminoolvidado.com, the San Pedro de la Foncollada alternative is Stage 12 B. According to the guide, you were correct to take the path to Modino. There is supposed to be a turn to the right that takes you to the Ermita de San Pelayo. And from there you keep going up to get to San Pedro de Foncollada, where the monastery used to be.

One other bit of bad news is that I heard from the albergue in Guardo that though they are re-opened, pilgrims are not allowed. That stinks, but there are several hotel options.

I’m assuming from what you have written that you walked the Olvidado recently. I bet I’m not the only one who would love to hear more updates and feedback!

Yes I am sure you are all hungry for up-to-date information. I only got back last night.
For the past 2 1/2 years I’ve been doing an all consuming project.
Thankfully easing up a little bit now.
In the next few weeks I will update.
