Just curious if anyone has walked through the area of Leiria lately and if so, what is the status of the fires and damage to structures, the route itself and most importantly, the human toll? Are albergues even open in the area at this time?

Haven't walked the area, but have a friend who lives near there; on alert re possible evacuation.

Sounds like there are three big fires in that general area; probably, given the last days of the very hot weather, a good area to avoid if at all possible!
