Albergue Aves de Paso sold

Just finished a Dutch article about Anna Visser, a Dutch woman who after losing her husband walked the Camino Portugues. Upon returning home she Googled "albergues for sale Camino de Santiago". Long story short, she is now the new owner of Albergue Aves de Paso in Pendueles on the Camino de Norte. This must have transpired quite recently as I had contact with Javi the previous owner when I walked the Norte last month (albergue was closed).

She is planning on continuing the donativo tradition. There is no mention when she plans to open up as she is currently in the process of moving.

Good luck to her!

Hi, I am starting the del Norte route Sept 4 - so am excited to hear this. While I know it may not yet be open, if it is I shall endeavor to stop there! Where exactly is Pendueles please?

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Pendules is between Colombres and Llanes. There is a very scenic route variation along the cliffs with a blow hole (if the tide is right) which leads to Pendules. Check Gronze.com.

Aves de Paso is on the left of the Camino, down hill side. The Bufones de Arenillas are 5 km further on. You cross the railroad tracks to get to them. Even if the wave surge is not producing the spray shooting up you can still hear the Bufones murmering with each wave way down below. Ghost like. Buen CaminoIMG-1235.JPGIMG-1186.JPGIMG-1199.JPG

I paid Anna a visit some weeks ago as I am a Dutch pelegrina and I also read the interview. Her plan is to open in spring 2023. I stayed in Casa Flor in Pendueles but wouldn’t recommend it. The other albergue seems to be a better place to stay. Buen Camino!

Agree with your opinion about Casa Flor. Stayed there in July as all else was closed.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
