Pilgrim Mass times at the Cathedral

I looked at the website for the Cathedral, and saw posted times with the specific title of Pilgrim Mass at 0730, 0930, 1200 and 1730 daily. On my last two visits, I was only aware of a Pilgrim Mass at noon. Is this something new? If this is indeed a Pilgrim Mass, is the chance of seeing the botefumiero more likely (or only) at the noon Mass?

Hi Jo Ellen. I was at the 930am Mass a few days in a row in June and the botefumiero was used each time. I'm not sure why, I think there is a thread somewhere on the forum about it. Or maybe I read about it on the cathedral website

Thank you - that really answers my question. I had only seen it at the noon Mass before, so they do bring it out at the other Masses as well.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
They don't use the botefumiero for every pilgrim mass. It was not used when I was there. Only for special days and when a group has paid for it I think.

I know that. I just wondered whether, if it was used, it would only be at the noon Pilgrim Mass.

My understanding is that it is used when someone pays for it. It was not used at our Pilgrim Mass, but was used at a different one that same day.

It is also used on feast days etc. I have seen it more often at times other that noon. Hit and miss unless its a feast.

I saw it 3 times in the fall of 2018, twice in the morning and once in the evening. I never attended the noon mass, so can't speak to that. But it has definitely been used at other times. Just depends if someone has sponsored it.
