Hi

I’m starting my Camino from Porto on the 2nd October.

I’ve booked the first couple of nights in Hostels but was wondering what the situation for accommodation is currently like?.
Are beds on Pilgrims hostels limited at the moment?
Do people mostly book ahead or is it ok to just turn up?
I couldn’t get a response from Vila do Conde. Is it crazy busy, closed or quiet?

Thanks I’m advance

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

We are starting in Porto on October 1st. We are doing the literal than switching to central in Vila do Conde. We have booked most of are places. In Vila do Conde, we are staying at a guest house and our son is staying in a pousada. Buen Camino!!

We are starting on the Francis from Leon on 9/30 and I'm wondering as well how far ahead to book. So far we are booked out to 10/5. I'm reluctant to book further ahead until I know how my wife and I fair, perhaps we will need to stop with shorter milages? Any thoughts?

We did this route last year and about the same time and loved it!. We did have most of our places booked last year. There were a couple of days we had 19 miles (it was a long day) since we got lost some and our hostel was on the other side of the town. Lol We did notice that once you get closer to Sarria there were more people walking. We averaged about 15 to16 miles a day with a couple of exceptions. We did do the scenic route out of Villafranca del Bierzo. It was worth it. The first incline is steep. Buen Camino!! It's your camino and once you find what you are comfortable with go with it.

Shouldn't be necessary to book further ahead. Ask the hospitaleros for their advice when you get there.
