Buy a ticket two to three months in advance.
Over the year I put $200. @ month into a Schwab account.
Then just go. I daily look at Gronze to see what is ahead of me and based on options and weather conditions walk on average 25-40km's. On a rare day 50km's
I do not book ahead and have only had one instance where getting accommodations was a challenge in 10 Camino's.
I have never used all the money in my account.
When I get to Santiago, I stay in a nice hotel and eat out with folks I met along the way. On my Credit card.

On the other subject we have deviated towards, using planning for battle as an analogy for walking a Camino not the best.

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

€60,-
I have done it for under $20/day in 33 days, municipal hostels & donativos, and eating picnics and ramen for my meals, spending under $650 total, and I have just done it again this year, a few years older and more financially solvent for about $3,000 in 38 days, around $80/day using fairly inexpensive hotels and eating out most of the time (with cheap wine). The range is really whatever you want it to be.
I started off with €2200 but used my credit card for stays at hotels, purchases of new socks, visits to pharmacies, gifts for neighbors from SdC while I was off. My overall cost for 39 days came to €3200 including gift (I came home with about €70 cash).

Certainly everyone form Australia, New Zealand, north and central Europe and UK will have one!!
Very funny, not! Just not real.

Even said in jest, it is verging on a being a pretty gross generalisation, and pretty insulting to those of us that don't drink alcohol as a matter of course, even on the Camino.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

I don't drink either but through the meseta i indulged in daily cold Coke zero and ice cream. The cafe con leche and pastries were so much better than Star***** that I often had two breakfasts stops. My daily food budget went askew often. And i still managed to lose 15 pounds.

It is a generalisation Doug, and probably ‘generally’ true; I’m sure no offence was intended to those who abstain. Best wishes

Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

I was rather surprised we North Americans weren't thrown under the "beer bus" with all the others.🤔😂
No offence intended Chrissy - and I haven’t been to the US in nearly 30 years, since when I believe ‘craft beer’ has really taken off - but the beer on offer in the 90’s was truly abysmal.

It is, however, lovely to see someone complaining at being excluded from a morally-reprehensible group.

Harp is a popular drink here. 😜
That is a joke Pat, right? I thought that the drink which claimed to ‘stay sharp to the bottom of the glass’ was thankfully buried in a lead box in the 80’s? If you were referring to the blessed Guinness itself, then, as you were. Carry on.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
very nice, very charitable pilgrim advice
Way back at post #11 I said I wouldn’t comment further on this thread … but here I am.

I haven’t read every post, but there has been a great deal of charitable / well intentioned advice including from @wayfarer. And from an earlier post it seems you have the information you were after.

Perhaps it’s a good time to close the thread. The moderators will close a thread if the Original Poster asks them. 😎

I don't know how you can tell there was no offence intended. I contemplated that, and hope it is true, but as humour, it doesn't pass. A comment like that @wayfarer made, which takes the mickey out of his own country, passes muster as humour. So far as I can tell, @TravellingMan2022 has taken a swipe at a whole lot of countries other than his own. That other earlier post - not funny, insulting. I hope that 2023 isn't going to be marred by similar absurdities. This has derailed an otherwise useful thread. That's sad. Nuf said, as far as I'm concerned.

There always remains the option to not read everything on the internet …

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Well, to show that I’m at least flexible in my opinions, although not usually within a minute, I now concur with my esteemed colleague @Pelerina

Locally know as Harpic. 😂
I can sense a padlock trundling down the road; but if I hurry up ..

I have a local ‘gastropub’ called Heft. It is excellent and the name refers to the indigenous sheep which remain on the land where they are born, will not move and must be sold with the farm. I digress (no surprise there readers).

The prices are such that locally it’s known as Theft.

Is that a pub that doesn't bother to clean out the pipes from the cellar, or a reflection of the food quality?
