It's a definite on my list next trip/walk in Spain.

Are those pictures on the raised path through gorge The Camino del Rey? I have a huge fear of heights and don’t think I could do that. Beautiful though thanks for sharing.

I remember discussions years ago about the route, and found a video taken before the renovations Maggie’s video shows.

Access is now controlled, tickets sold, and guided tours available.

Looks like they fixed a few of the holes since it reopened. I used to climb (badly) quite a bit and it was terrifying in (about) 2010.

Yikes! I got sweaty palms just watching that video . There's no way I would have even attempted it.
It's all very tame in comparison today.

This looks like something I would very much like to walk. What time of year were you there? I ask because it sure looks crowded--I would prefer to go where there are not many people.
I checked tickets for October but they showed no availability--not sure if that is because they are opened only certain times of the year. Do you know?
I couldn't see on their website how one can get there if you don't have a car. Am I looking in the wrong place?

It's open all year, I have walked it in December and January in recent years.. it is a lot quieter in these months but weekends are always busy. It doesn't open on Mondays. You do need to book in advance, but maybe is too early to book for next October.

If you want to visit by train, it's a whole day out from Malaga: 45 minutes on the morning train from Maria Zambrano estacion to El Chorro and then 20 minute shuttle bus up to the entrance of the park. From there it's a leisurely 2 or 3 hour walk through the park and into the spectacular gorge and from there you walk back to the station for the late afternoon train back to Malaga. It is closed on Mondays and may close in bad or windy weather.. check forecast! Sanitised version and not a patch on the original caminito but still a fun day out, last time I took my daughter on it!

Is the El Chorro train station near this shuttle bus stop? I am unfamiliar with this part of Spain.
Also wanted to ask in one part of the video it looked like people were wearing hair nets under the hard hats. What is this for?

The shuttle bus picks you up right outside the station and you can book it at same time on caminito website.

Hairnets under hard hats would be for hygiene, I imagine.

We visited in November. It was soon after the walk reopened. There was a lot of excitement about it. As far as I remember the initial people to walk were by invite only. Each town in Málaga province invited their residents to join an outing to walk the caminito and I was lucky enough to be residing there at the time. Hence the crowds, as several coaches arrived at the same time. I guess eight years on it will have calmed down a bit. I would imagine it is open all year, although it closes in high winds. Probably it is only possible to book a certain amount of time ahead.
