getting to Saint Jean

Hello. We are flying into Madrid and taking the train to Pamplona. We want to start from Saint Jean, however, and not Roncesvalles. What is the best way to get there? Taxi?

Thanks.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Re: Good afternoon from Pamplona

From Pamplona to SJPP.- Two options.-

PamplonA-Roncesvalles (BUS) and then perphaps you can find some taxi to SJPP.-
or
Pampona-SJPP .....(TAXI)
Have a nice Camino

Depending on how many of you there are - and what time you want to leave Pamplona - you could contact Caroline Aphessetche at Express Burricot for a taxi to St Jean from Pamplona.

This was her quote a couple of weeks ago:

For one person it will cost 32 euros from Pamplona to St jean pied de Port leaving in the afternoon at about 16h00. If you want to leave at 11h00 and go directly to St Jean it is possible but it will be 80 euros (we use the car only for your transport, like a taxi). If you are 4 persons it will cost 20 euro each. So you can book by email if you are interested,
thanks you,
Caroline

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
What is the approximate cost of a taxi from Pampolona to SJPD?

The cost is at least 1 € per km and the distance is roughly 75 km. Check some actual current taxi prices on line for example see this web.

Good luck and Buen camino!

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

When I was last in Pamplona (i.e..last September) there was a bus all the way from Pamplona to SJPDP. In fact, several a day. No need to catch a taxi.

I have just checked on the Alsa website and @ssking14 and @asaar there are currently four buses a day (Conda, a subsidiary of Alsa) leaving from Pamplona bus station to St Jean Pied de Port - at 10:00, 12:00, 14:30 and 17:30.

It is a seasonable service, but that is what is current i.e. the summer timetable.

If you click on this link, it should take you to the spot where you enter your starting place (Pamplona) and destination (St Jean Pied de Port) and the date you plan to travel, and you will be given a selection of times and prices and you can buy your ticket online...
