Oh how I agree they are very special two of our camino friends came to the UK from USA just before Christmas. We cried like babies when we all parted the tug is so powerful. Have a wonderful meeting together and be strong when they leave

On my way from Ohio to visit my family in New England for Christmas, I stopped for the night in Boston at the Christmas party of a friend I met on my first Camino. Our continued friendship is a gift in and of itself. A few hours later, there was a group of us talking--pilgrims who had not known each other. And the connections that emerged--oh, you're so-and-so...I met your daughter walking, or, I met a man at the grocery in NY who met your friend so-and-so on the Camino. It was strange and beautiful. Somewhat similarly, while working as a hospitalera I hosted four pilgrims I had met on my previous caminos. My religious friend says it's the holy spirit. To what end, I wonder (with all sincerity).

We had given our address out to a few people and were not entirely certain which one it was contacting us, although we did remember the conversation. We had our suspicions that it was a biker with a Bob trailer so it was really good to ask his daughter those pointed questions to make sure we were thinking of the right person!!!!! We had a great few days - and yes, of course we sent her out our front door into the bush for a run (didn't go with her, because while I can walk all day, I NEVER run!!!) Luckily we sent her on the easy route coz she came back shattered;-) Turns out our local hills are harder than we think and could explain why we were not phased by any Spanish or French hills we came across!

We had a delightful time spending a couple of nights with some of our Canadian Camino friends as we passed through their respective cities last summer on a driving vacation to eastern Canada. They were such gracious hosts, and it allowed us to relive some of our common experiences from our time together on the Camino. We hope to repay their generosity if and when they get down our way.
