Time of past OR future Camino
Sept 1-Oct 3 (2015)
Hello,

Is there a post office in Roncesvalles near the drop off points for Expressbouricot or Jacotrans? If none, where do you reckon is the nearest one? We're sending our things from a holiday prior to the Camino to Santiago for storage until we get there.

Many Thanks.

Angie

Pamplona would be the nearest Spanish post office/Correos for sending a package. Express Bourricot can transport the package directly to SdC for you.

Hey Angie, I'm not sure where you're flying into Spain FROM, but in my opinion, beginning in Pamplona is a great option.
When I fly from the USA, I fly to Madrid, then take the bus from the airport to Pamplona.
The benefits (as long as you are not starting on a Monday when everything is closed) are you can recover from the time change, you can get your phone or SIM at Vodafone if that's your choice, and you can tourist about and see the wonderful museum and cathedrals there. You can get a bus to SJPP from Pamplona or if you have a group, hire a taxi.

Then, when every other tourist else is stopping in Pamplona, you can walk right past it because you've already seen it!
You can begin walking "between stages" - you will be out of the "wave" of pilgrims walking Brierley's stages and there are some wonderful places to stay in between.

You can stay at Cizur Menor or Zariquigui that night and be fresh for your trek over Perdon.

Hi Annie. We're coming from Paris - Carcassone before heading to Bayonne then SJPP. But thanks for your recom. May come in handy next time. I can feel it already. This won't be my only Camino :)

There is a post office in SJPDP only a couple of blocks from downtown. Twice now I've sent stuff on to SDC. But I've been told it's more expensive than sending it from Pamps. International vs internal Spanish post I presume.
Good travelling and Buen Camino!
