Pilgrims office temporary location

I just passed the pilgrims office and saw that they have now closed the main entrance. The note on the door says that they are now "at number 3", two windows down (past the small RENFE office). See photo below. No lines... :)

So it might look like the "big move" to the new permanent location has started. :)

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Just curious Ivar; how will this new location affect Pilgrim House and Faith & Nate? They offer such a wonderful service. Sorry I missed seeing you in Santiago.

Maggie..
I don't think there will be any effect on The Pilgrim House.
The present locations are not next to each other ( as you know) and the new location of the Pilgrim Office is not actually a great deal further away...just a bit different area.

Most folks don't hang around the Pilgrim Office after picking up their Compostella.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
It should not affect the Pilgrim House and staff at all. There will be a relatively greater distance between both sites. But, overall, things will work out. I know from speaking with both Faith and Nate while I was there as a Voluntario in July-August this year that they are meeting regularly with the Pilgrim Office and Cathedral management to discuss how they can best continue their symbiotic relationship.

Most folks do not realize it, but despite the fact that both organizations, Pilgrim Office and Pilgrim House are wholly different entities, coming from different Christian faith based organizations, they actually work together very well, every day. Each provides something the other does not.

When I was serving there, I came to reply on their kindness and generosity nearly every day. They helped obtain needed items for needy peregrinos, accepted donated items, from walking sticks, hats, clothing, and rucksacks, all the way up to bicycles. As their mission is to support pilgrims, whereas the Pilgrim Office's mission is to welcome and document pilgrims when they arrive at Santiago de Compostela, their differing foci are compatible and complimentary.

I am certain they will continue to work well together into the future.

I hope this helps.

Definitely helps…..I was telling everyone I knew about Prilgrim House. It is such a wonderful service. I will never forget their generosity and kindness….and the birthday cake!! Thanks Ivar.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I hope they make the move before I get there in February.
They seem to be in the process of moving furniture and furnishings, and hooking up the inevitable internet connections. They've gone through a process before, so all things being equal, by the end of 2015 the arriving pilgrims will be breathing fresh paint;)

What time does the Pilgrim Office open ? 10am ??
I need to get a credencial.
I am arriving in Santiago on the overnight train from Madrid on Friday 20th @7am

I'd like to get walking as soon as possible, but I think they open @10

If the Pilgrim Office is not open till later in the morning, are there other places I can get a credencial early ? From the Cathedral ? Or tourist office (may not open till 10am either)

The pilgrims office is open from 10.00 to 7pm from November 1st to Easter. The rest of the year from 08.00 to 8pm.

I have credentials, but I will most likely not be in Santiago that early. I could drop it off some place (but not sure where)...

Thanks Ivar understood
I will probably get some breakfast before setting off so don't expect to depart @7
Would the shop next to your office be happy to hold it for me to collect ?
I can leave the money with them
About to get on a plane but will collect messages when I arrive in Madrid
Let me know if this is possible

The problem is that no shop opens before 10.00... and then the Pilgrims Office is open...

oh! I thought your one next door opened early, obviously misremembered something.

Either I will have a slow morning or long breakfast or start without one. I'm not doing it for the paperwork.

See how I feel in the morning

Thank you
