Thank you for this video which brings back lots of memories. I have to say it is nice hearing ssomeone huffing and puffing ;). If I may, Castro is not "nothing special" in my opinion. Granted it's a sleepy village with no bars, church, etc. , but the meals, evening and breakfast are womderful and if you walk 500m you can visit Roman ruins from when the Romans mined this area. The ruins are the reason the village is called Castro: you can even see the bath of the main house, the streets, etc. I certainly recommend it. I also recommend the beautifully restored As Seixas albergue, but to get some food from the food truck when it passes by because the local restaurant is not reliable for breakfast.

Hi @ultreia1972, welcome to the forum and thank you for sharing your video. It is great! And I like your German accent:).

My husband and I are planning to walk the Primitivo next year, so this is really helpful. You're right in what you say in the introduction - there are a lot of Camino Frances videos out there, but good resources for the Primitivo are harder to find.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Great video, brings back memories from the Primitivo I walked coming 'down' from the Northern Route in 2014.
As a born and raised 'Dutchie', now living in Canada for the past 25 years I have to tell you that your English is excellent and the accent is minimal !
Thank you for posting and 'Buen Camino' for your future walks !

Cheers, Peter

What a wonderful video! I am planning on walking the Primitivo next May [2016] but will certainly not walk the long stages completed by Dirk!
A lovely intrroduction to the camino - I felt I was with you out there in the sunshine!
Buen camino, amigo!

I just returned from the Primitivo last week and really enjoyed reliving it again through your video! Thanks for posting!

Do you know what stages you plan to walk yet Stephen? Certainly couldn't do the long stages as shown in the video although great to see.

Hi Heather!
Not yet worked out the stages - need to get Christmas out of the way, first. So many jobs to do, and church services to prepare ...
However - I can tell you that my maximum day's walk is around 24 kms. That's MAXIMUM :)! I often only walk 10 to 12 kms. After 24 kms I sometimes take a day off to recover. You can see all the stages I walked on the previous 5 caminos on my web site.
Anyway ..... I'll start planning in earnest in a fortnight.
Keep in touch, Heather - meanwhile, a very happy Christmas to you and all you love....

I know what you mean about this being a busy time Stephen. Same here. Happy Christmas to you and yours also. Maybe we will see each other on the Primitivo next year ....

Thanks Anemone this looks more like it. I probably could manage around 20-25kms a day but as the years pass it gets harder :)

So happy you found this helpful. Just make sure to not only look at distances but climb and terrain. Everyone talks of Hospitales, but the walk to O Cavado has a terrible uphill at the end of the day. I would have loved to stay in Bodeyana, but of staying in San Juan it's either a long day, or a very short one the day after making you arrive in Bodeyanaaround 10 am...

Hi Peregrina. I was going to follow the stages you have on the pinned posts to this forum. There does not seem to be a john brierley book on this camino.

Looking at this as a possibility. Want to walk in 10 or 11 days.
Visit www.forwalk.org, ot gives you alternative etapas depending on the number of days you wantto take to walk the Primitivo. Cicerone has a guide of the northern routes, in English, which includes the Primitivo.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Forwalk.com is a great site, thank you for sharing. Now is in my favourites.

Good video, I was planning to walk in 10 days. You seem to have walked 100km the last 2 days?

Hi!
Sorry for the late answer, I haven't been here for a long time. I just found all the friendly replies in my "spam". Anyway: Yes, I made 100 KM in two days, because after a very nice primitivo I just couldn't get used to the masses of pilgrims joining "my" way at Melide. So I decided to walk as far as I could go....

Thank you for sharing. What kind of camera did you use??

Hi Bill!
I use a camcorder by Panasonic, it is nothing special really and a few years old - it is a HDC-SD99. I have had problems with the sound, especially when it's windy you do not understand a word. So I bought a Rode VideoMic pro, which fits the camera.
