As we get to the end of January we have started to think about meeting up again. Various committments mean that, personally, we are looking at early March.
Does Saturday 7th March, in Exeter, sound good? We will check that Serlo's is open OK and suggest meeting from coffee time onward.....

Oh dear, away again, but please keep me posted and I will meet again some time.

Hi Valerie will try to make it but I may be away that weekend. Will mention it to my friends who start walking to Jerusalem in April, they have decided to go via Plymouth to Santo Toribio then go east, instead of starting from Santiago, Terry may be able to help them with the practicalities of walking to Plymouth after staying at Buckfast.

Great! I will try and be there.

Just a reminder:- Saturday March 7th in Exeter at Serlo's (the Cathedral cafe).
For those who are new:- As you face the west front of the Cathedral there is a railed off garden area to the right. Go through the gate and follow the path to the far end. Serlo's is through the door at the right. We hope to arrive between 11.00 and 11.30.
Looking forward to seeing fellow pilgrims and would be pilgrims. :)

I am looking forward to meeting up with you later this morning. Having had such a wonderful experience walking from Astorga to Santiago last year I am considering the Primitivo in October this year.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Hi Tia,
I somehow managed to miss this original thread and just picked up today. Too far away to get there now :(.

I hope that you have a nice meet up. Lovely day for it weatherwise.
Mig

Good to see you Louly and sorry you missed out Miguel. We are thinking of a Monday or Tuesday in late June early July for our next get together as some folk find Saturday more difficult. Also a CSJ/camigos day in Exeter on Saturday October 10th (Fee £5 to cover hiring hall etc). Watch this space for more details. :)

Sorry we missed this morning - still full of cold n cough... Look forward to the next one - and the CSJ thing in October.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Morning Tia Valeria. I have just picked up this post. I am sorry I missed the opportunity to meet up with you all in March. I would like very much to be in contact and hope I will be able to meet with you next time. I live near Lyme Regis. LIZBETH

We are just home and looking at dates for a next get together. Thinking of Darts Farm in about 2 week's time, but we need to check our diaries.

Having checked our diaries can we suggest Monday 29th June at Darts Farm 11.30/12.00 ish until about 2pm. The cafe by the delicatessan and fish bar - outside if nice. Anyone around then? :)

{Edited June 27th - no June meeting as it seems that folk are not around}

Sorry we won't see you this time Miguel - maybe in October. We have only been home just over a week so this was a quick thought to see if anyone was free.

Slowly adding to the forum posts and the blog.... one day at a time so as to add the photos too. :)

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Sorry Tia, we will be driving back from London - uugh! Next time...

The June date seems to be drawing a blank so we think that we should probably look to another date, possibly August - when we know how we are with dates and grandchildren. Otherwise it would be October 10th - Exeter - which is joint with CSJ and would be £5 each to cover the cost of the hall. More about that after the CSJ 'Bulletin' is published.
Is that better for folk?

Hi Valerie August could be out for me as well, I will be either in Sintra or Cumbria for the first 10 days, don't ask. Maybe try to get a Camino in for latter part, especially if I'm Sintra, so looks like October.

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
Anytime up to November good for me - now I've had my summer hol - 4 days marching around London! Nearest I got to a pilgrimage was walking up St James Street...
Hope you get to Sintra Mike - the palaces etc are amazing - especially the garden of the Reguleira. We started our Camino in Sintra a few years ago - took the (unsigned) coastal route up to Porto, which was superb - beautiful scenery and white beaches, lagoons and vinho verde... mmmh!

From the June Bulletin CSJ:-
Saturday October 10th South-West Pilgrims' Day, Exeter
CSJ members in conjunction with the Camigos from the Camino de Santiago Pilgrim Forum.

A day for those who have made their pilgrimage to Santiago and those who are planning or thinking of doing so. Planning; the routes; what to pack; walk or cycle?; accomodation; the credencial and the Compostela; CSJ membership etc. Past pilgrims can share and future pilgrims question.
We plan to meet at 10.00 for a 10.30 start and to finish at 3.30-3.45. The cost is £5.00, payable on the day, and you will need to bring your own lunch. Drinks will be provided. Any 'profit' will be sent to CSJ for the Miraz refugio.
As there is a limit on numbers for the hall we are asking for pre-registration please, preferably by e-mail (CSJ members see back page of Bulletin). If you do not have e-mail then please send to CSJ office with the reverse of the envelope clearly marked Exeter Oct 10th, and be sure to enclose a s.a.e. Details of the venue, parking and also a timetable (approx) will then be sent out.
The 'pre-registration' is now open for the day in Exeter. If you are both CSJ and Forum please could you use the information in the Bulletin to pre-register. If you are a forum member only then please PM us with an e-mail address and we will send you the information by e-mail. This means I can send an attachment when needed. We hope for a good response from both forum and CSJ members and a sharing of experiences from the Camino, as well as practical information.
:)

Next meeting definitely the October 10th joint meeting as August seems to be a non-starter for many of us. Look forward to seeing folk there, and please let us know if you are planning/hoping to come if you have not already done so. :)

Just to raise awareness again of the get-together on October 10th in Exeter. As this is joint with CSJ we have booked a small hall so there is a £5 charge to cover costs. (Any 'profit' will go to support the albergue at Miraz.)

Drinks provided but please bring your own lunch. Several forum folk have already signed up and it is not confined to those who live in Devon :), just that we meet here.

The only request is that you please PM me if you would like to come and then I will PM the details, venue etc.

A mix of practical tips, sharing experiences, and about joining CSJ and the Forum.

There should be enough room but if not then it will need to be on a 'first signed up' basis. If you have already pre-registered then (to slightly misquote The Mikado) 'I've got you on my list' :)

Just to remind 'forum only' pilgrims that the joint day with CSJ is next Saturday (10th) . If you have already registered you should have received a message - PM, e-mail or text - with the venue and programme.

Still a few places for late registrants, but before Wednesday please.
:)

Hi @Tia Valeria and @TerryB.

Thanks both for taking the time and effort to organise the Practical Pilgrim day today in Exeter. It was nice to meet up with the other forum members, to hear others' experiences and to hopefully help and inspire those about to embark on their Camino or who are considering volunteering in support of Pilgrims.

Regards
Mig

Hola @miguel_gp . Thank you. We enjoyed it and it was good to have so many folk from the Forum, and Mary from CSJ, sharing their experiences. Thanks for your input re Amigos/Voluntarios. Also to David (first aid), Jenny (hospitalera) and Hecate - it was great to have the bike! Thanks to to all others who shared info and helped to make it a good day, not least to Maggie who sorted the refreshments and had organised the hall for us.

We will be sending a cheque to CSJ for £80 for the support of the CSJ albergue at Miraz - the 'profit' after costs plus donations - thank you.

Planning a quiet day today.....:)

It was a lovely day - so good to meet prospective pilgrims and also to meet up with Camigos and forum members in the flesh! Hopefully we will have inspired the newbies to get on their bikes (or boots) I was certainly inspired myself to volunteer to be a hospitalera and/or amigo in the future. I think what David does is wonderful - but as a gardener I don't think my hands are ever clean enough!
It was a beautiful venue to meet in too. Thank you very much Tia and Terry for all their hard work, and Maggie too.
So when's the next one...!

Thanks so much Tia and Terry for all your hard work - it was a wonderful day. It was fantastic to see everyone - particularly all the Forum members. Thanks too to Maggie for all the beautiful refreshments and for making us all so welcome.
Fabulous to hear that Miraz will benefit from the profit made on the day.
Cheers and best wishes to all -
Jenny

Last year a few of us met at Buckfast Abbey for the RSCM Advent Carol Service. This is on the Saturday, time to be confirmed but has been 4.30pm in past years until about 5.30pm. Last year we met at 3.15pm in the Granary Refectory for a pre service cup of tea. (At 3.30 the choirs have their tea break so it gets quite busy from then onwards) Terry will be there and I will come in from the choir practise, if anyone wants to join us we will see you there.
Although it is possible to get there by bus they are not maybe any good for the return so own transport is IMO essential for getting home.

Just a reminder about the Advent Carol Service at Buckfast Abbey. Time 4.30pm, refreshments available in 'The Granary' refectory before the service. The choir break starts as expected at 3.30 so best to get there before that :).
