Updated list of albergues from Amigos de Madrid

LTfit

Veteran Member
Hi guys,

This morning I found this list on Facebook. It is issued by the Amigos association of Madrid and includes the most updated information regarding accomodations along the Camino de Madrid.

Unfortunately I can only update as a jpg file.

This was the comment with the documents:
Aquí tenéis el listado actualizado de albergues y servicios del Camino de Madrid.
Hay novedades: se han incorporado varios hostales de Medina de Rioseco y Santa María la Real, y un restaurante de Simancas.
Se ha cerrado el albergue de Melgar de Arriba, no cumplía con las condiciones mínimas. Hemos incorporado el Refugio de Añe, porque se encuentra en perfectas condiciones para dar acogida.
Y el albergue de Zamarramala estará cerrado durante el invierno.
Buen Camino¡.

Changes: albergue in Melgar de Arriba has closed. A refugio in Añe has been added. The albergue in Zamarramala is closed during the winter and several hostals in Medina de Rioseco and Santa María de Real have been added as well as a restaurante in Simancas.

Hope this helps and Buen Camino!

p.s. I see that the documents are hard to read. I will contact a friend of mine who is a socio in the asociación de Madrid and see if possible to get a pdf or word file.

Outstanding, and timely too, for those of us who are planning to walk the Madrid route this Spring.

Thank you very much for sharing.

I had the previous version, converted to an Excel spreadsheet. I enlarged and printed this one, landscape on letter-sized paper. It is "fuzzy" but largely legible.

If anyone succeeds in saving this as a Word or Excel table, please share it.

Thanks, LT. You're so much more tech savvy than -- I was only able to get the link to the Facebook page on the forum. :p No surprise here, I suppose.

This is a GREAT document for people setting out. Hope you can get a version that is easier to read.

The Camino de Madrid undoubtedly has the most albergues with the fewest pilgrims of any camino in Spain. And it also has the least asphalt. So why is it still so untravelled? Have you decided on the Madrid for your March camino?

Buen camino, Laurie

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Great, thanks! Like @t2andreo says, just in time for a spring camino from Madrid.
(I walked part of the Rota Vicentina last September, by the way: incredibly beautiful, but if you take the Fisherman's trail you'll spend a lot of time walking through very loose sand on top of the cliffs.)

Changes: albergue in Melgar de Arriba has closed. ...

I'm sure the reason is the rerouting of the Camino via Arenillas de Valderaduey and Grajal de Campos further on. Also most of the people stay at Santervas de Campos. Too bad for that closure as I promised myself I'll stay at Melgar next time...

Thanks anyway @LTfit ;)

Has anyone stayed in the Añe albergue lately?
I'm trying to decide if I'll walk there from Segovia or if I'll take the bus to Los Huertos and walk into Sta. Maria Real de Nieva.
How bad is it? I don't remember any place to buy food there either...

Annie,
The latest word (and the reason why the list now includes Ane) is that it has been cleaned up and is perfectly fine. I am pretty sure a few forum members stayed there in the past year. The one question mark may be the availability of food, and I think you'd be wise to bring your own if you plan to stay there unless someone who's been through more recently says there is a sure source of food.

Annie, I was there on 12 May. It’s the old school and has been repainted and generally tidied up. Basic but fulfills most needs. Located on the edge of the village with plenty of outside space. Five bunk beds in total – three in the large old school hall, and two in a smaller dorm. Hot shower, or maybe showers, can’t remember. The ablution facilities were nice and clean. No kitchen or food preparation facilities of any description. The village is tiny – no bar or shop. A fruit truck came through when I was there, not sure if this is a daily occurrence. Overall, a stop of absolute peace and quiet in slightly austere surroundings. I have a couple of photos. If interested please PM me your email address.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I can second Laurie's and Donovan's answer. But - there is a local bar on the left side of the ayuntamiento although "maybe" (as I was told) opened only on Fridays and Saturdays evenings which doesn't help much ;) I also saw a van but that was in the morning next day. Yes, I will be wiser next time and bring more food with me. And a bottle of wine to go along the quiet dinner :)

Glad to be of service. I'll send you a pm @Rob the Slob . By the way we are neighbors!

One item that might make this accommodation sheet even more helpful would be addresses ie: Plaza de Ayuntamiento 1, 28760 Tres Cantos or do the arrows take you right there?

Hi, Joe,
In my memory the camino stays on the left side of the highway, and town is on the right. But there are two obvious overpasses to take to get into town. I didn't go into town so I don't know which one is better for the ayuntamiento. Few people are likely to know there's an albergue there, but they are all going to be able to tell you where the ayuntamiento is. Buen camino, Laurie

Very easy to find Ayto in Tres Cantos. This is a very simple description from my journal of how you can find it:
"Camino runs paralel to autovia or even on tarmac bici route for last few kms - hard on feet!
When you reach 4th bridge over autovia take it towards Centro. At first roundabout take left and first right through railroad underpass. On righthand side you'll find Mercadona market open until 21:30, so you can buy some food and still find Ayunamiento opened. If you just want to stock up that's less than 1km detour.
A little bit further down the street on right there is Ayuntamiento (photo39). Employees there are very friendly and the room for four in the cellar is nice too. It has two windows to open, some furniture but only one electric socket! (photo40) Toilets are separated, very clean and the water is boiling hot... They close Ayunamiento at 21:00 and you're locked inside until morning."

A few have already answered your question but your are right, the addresses would be a great addition. This list list is not mine, it belongs to the Amigos de Madrid, I just shared information which I thought others would appreciate. I took on the Plata list which can be found in the resources section. I haven't even walked the Madrid yet so I am not able to share any first hand information.

I apologize for the misunderstanding. The information is appreciated.

Thanks, I found it on Google maps. I was just suggesting that the addition of addresses might help. I usually explore the area after I check in. According to the map it looks like there are lots of eating options in the area. I am looking forward to this Camino because it is mostly rural. What time do they let you out in the morning?

Well, don't know exactly when they LET you out because I was kind of "thrown out" by the policeman at 8 on Saturday morning ;)
Anyway they will tell you that in the afternoon.

Joe,
As K1 mentioned, the staff at the Ayuntamiento are very friendly. The instructions I was given were very explicit - in by 9:00PM, out by 6:00AM. When I arrived at the door at 6:00AM (precisely) a security official was there to let me out.

There are quite a few eating places nearby. On the recommendation of the lady at the Ayto. who checked me in I had dinner at Rosa's, just around the corner, and was well satisfied.

Donovan:

Thanks for the feedback, especially on the hours ( 2100 is early). I had no problem finding the location on google maps, I was just suggesting an address attached to the Accommodation might be helpful. Rosa's sounds like a plan.

Joe

Joe, that's what the Ayto. looks like - see attached photo. You will come from the right hand side of the picture.

That's quite some ayuntamiento. Tres Cantos, after all, didn't develop organically over the centuries -- it was decreed, planned, and built during the 70s, and once again shows that if you build it they will come. Just like Valdesalor outside Caceres on the Vdlp.

And I know we have had discussions on this before, but I think it's crazy that they lock you inside with no way out during an emergency.
