Blue Mountains Camino walkers

Time of past OR future Camino
Camino Frances 2016
Hi, I'm in Katoomba and would love to hear from others or meet up with others locally in the Blue Mountains who are either going on a Camino or have been on one. I'm heading off on March 20 and would love to catch up with others nearby who've walked either Camino Frances (where I'm going), or other Caminos. Also love to hear about their poncho/raincoat preferences, especially the lack of proper ponchos in Australia.
Ciao, Sue

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Hi Sue, There is a Camino group that meets at the Glenella Guesthouse in Blackheath once a month (usually the last Friday of the month). The organiser's contacts details can be found in the second last paragraph of this page http://www.glenellabluemountainshotel.com.au/pilgrims-meal/

I prefer to use a poncho and agree with you about the ones available in Australia, mine was purchased in Europe. If you are starting from St Jean Pied de Port, you can find a poncho at La Boutique du Pèlerin http://www.boutique-du-pelerin.com/en/

Buen Camino.

Thanks so much Julie - I had heard about the Blackheath Camino Group but didn't know who/when/where etc. Thanks for filling me in. And ditto re ponchos.
Cheers

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Hi Sue we live in north Kat and are also going to walk this year leaving Aus a tiny bit later than you. Will be on Spanish ground in early April but we are going to start this time in Barcelona. We walked in 2010 from Pau in France and crossed the Pyrenees at Somport pass. I love raincoats and rain pants but don't hold that against me. In 2013 I did the last section from Sarria mid winter, only a week in early January as a special unexpected treat for my 60th. Happy to chat, come visit all the best Jill (let me know here and I will send ph.)

Hi Jill - did we meet at the last Blackheath Camino dinner? Yes, I'd love to catch up with you and chat about your past experiences.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hi everyone, I live at Medlow Bath and I'm heading out to Madrid on March 16th, then to Camino Frances for my first Camino. I've left this a bit late, have started to use this forum only recently and am still finding my way around this enormous resource. Is there a meeting at Blackheath this month on the 26th? I can bring my poncho, etc. - Buen Camino, - Mike

Hi Mike, yes there is a meeting/dinner night on the 26th at Glenella Guest House in Blackheath. I have reposted the link re the dinner - 2nd last paragraph. Maybe meet you there? You need to book in advance cos it's pretty popular I understand. I'm going there at 2.00pm to help with set up so if you happen to be there early, we will meet then. Would love to see your poncho.
Buen Camino, Sue

Sue, Thanks for your reply. I've already emailed tony.jacques1@gmail.com and will book when I hear back from him tomorrow. Or I'll phone if he doesn't get back to me by lunchtime. I'll turn up early and say hi. Looking forward to it - I haven't yet met anyone who's actually walked a Camino - and I've been preparing for almost a year! Buen Camino
