Good evening all,

Came across this forum today as I research for the Via de la Plata next February - a superb resource I am delighted to have come across.

Any top tips from fellow pilgrims greatly received otherwise hello and good walking!

Cheers,

Hi Jonny! Welcome to the forum!

Once you have specific questions I'm pretty sure you'll get (good) answers from the experienced pilgrims on the forum. Meanwhile, enjoy your research!

Hi Jonny. I see you're from Bury. Lovely part of the country. Had many happy holidays
birding in Suffolk. I got lots of useful information from the people on here. Great resource

Many thanks - I'll be putting together a day-by-day plan over the coming weeks and will be sure to share any queries. A big worry I have is access to water between stages, in my crude planning to date there can be notable sections without obvious settlements or even watercourses. Did you have any issues with hydration? I deliberately chose a February start date in the hope it'll be cooler.

Morning,

Yes, I am a keen bird watcher myself - great part of the country for it. The walking is good too although not too much testing terrain! Very pleased to have discovered the forum - has taken a good amount of worry out of the planning!

That's a great question for a thread on its own to get more answers than the ones you'll likely get on this thread whose subject was a different one. Not having walked the Vía de la Plata myself, I can't help with such specific question. Meanwhile you open a new thread for that question and get specific answers, you could take a look at post number 22 on the thread titled vdlp too hot in july to get an idea of how much water could be needed to carry on a hot day on one of the stages. I'm aware a hot day isn't the same than a not so hot day and I'm aware each person is different but it might give you some sort of an idea. You can use the search feature on the upper right corner to (try to) find the thread I quoted.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

With many thanks for the tip-off. I'll be sure to go back to post 22 and then create a new thread if still worried...
