And so...we keep on walking ..
Time of past OR future Camino
Camino Lebaniego y Vadiniese - October 2022
Hello peregrinos, I decided to come from the US to walk with some friends for a couple of days. O'cebreiro was awesome. We walked to Triacastela and then to Sarria, spent the night in a wonderful alberque privado called el Paloma. From Sarris we went to Porto Marin, another crowed place, finally fromPorto Marin to Casanova to get ahead. We were pulling over 40km daily. The weather has been incredible warm and enjoyable.
So far the Camino has been busy, very busy. I also notices some issues that I have not seen before, a LOT LOT LOT of older folks, I am talking over 70, I am also am also an older guy, but my philosophy has always been to be a pilgrim, a true one.
I have met some of great folks while in the Camino been to be a great pilgrim and to enjoy the experience. Yesterday in the alberque municipal de Casanova, I observed 2 older ladies, arguing with the hospitlera and many pilgrims. They wanted to go to bed at 8:00 Pm, and were arguing with some peregrines, about having no light on at 8:00 PM. Then the wasn't back to the hospital era because she wanted to be no shoes in the room. Finally the hospital era, a very nice lady, told her the rules of the game, she complain all night long. It was a very interesting experience, why. Many people think that American's are always spoiled. The light stayed on. And the 2 old complained about their age and that they needed rest. Really, really complain that they were over 70, and should be able to "get what they wanted".
After been told not they began to act like children, really a disgrace for us.
If you are a senior be aware of the alberge rules. Lights out at 10, if this is an issue, stay somewhere else.
On the other side, today folks swimming at the Ribadizo alberque, and just plane HOT, in ARZRin a small pension, enjoy all of this Camino.

Loving it and living it!!!!

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
We arrived in Santiago yesterday, Saturday. This being my 3rd Camino Frances, it was a little bitter sweet. Most of us arriving from different places were sharing our memories, and sad to say, us "veterans", are not planning to do the French for a while, the level of commercialization is incredible, and it is turning more into a tourist trip rather than an spiritual experience.
There was a large group from Mexico, walking without backpacks, but with a couple of large speakers, I guess they needed noise. Funny thing, each one playing a different kind of music. Most of us stayed behind until they passed. In Sarria, they were kicked out of the place they were staying for noise and other things. It looks like they were having so much fun they forgot some people wanted to relaxed and just enjoy the Camino.
If you run out of space in your credentials, it is very hard to find an additional one, they were selling for 4 €, and by the way, the albergues don't sell them, and neither does the church.(speaking about the last etapas after Sarria).
Overall, the plan for the next Camino will be The Camino del Norte in winter.
We are staying in Santiago for a couple of days, and just enjoy the incredible weather, it was 27-28 degrees today.

Buen Camino,

Texas guy
