Camino Portuguese - From Tui to Santiago, People & Places

I'm wanting to do the Camino in 7 days in late April.

The plan is to start in Tui and end in Santiago.

Here are my questions:
1.) Will there be a lot of other people walking with me or will I be alone most of the time, this time of year?
2.) Are their good, social places stay, as there are on the french side - or is it sparse?
3.) Can I walk from Tui to Santiago this quickly?

1. Stretches alone but lots of locals
2. Less than French but at least a couple for each stage + several larger towns with lots of "non-pilgrim" options
3. Yes. Even in 5 or 6

Olá,

1) Easter holidays are over, but from Tui to Santiago you will never walk alone. Most Spaniards start in Tui - the last 100 km qualify for the compostela.
2) There are many nice albergues where the pilgrims meet.
3) Tui to Santiago in 7 days is not that quickly - a bit less than 20 kms a day - doable!

And as jefferyonthecamino said, the fortaleza of Valença is a must! Therefore think about staying in the albergue in Valença. It´s only 4 kms from Valença to Tui.

Welcome Chelczer , I am sure you will enjoy this section of the camino.
I am planning to return in September and walk with a friend who recovering from serious illness and can only walk shorter days. I have planned 7 walking days from Tui and the longest day is 13 miles.
1. You will meet many people on the way.
2. All the municipal Albergue are friendly and buzzing places.
3. Easily achievable in 7 days.

I walked Porto to Santiago a couple of years ago. Stayed in Catro Canos in Tivo, probably my favourite experience of any Camino. A lot depends on the mix of people there but family who run it were just so friendly. They are on Facebook and fill up quickly, I think they take bookings.

Our plan is as follows
Day 1. Tui to O'Porrino
Day 2. O'Porrino to Redondela
Day 3. Redondela to Pontevedra
Day 4. Pontevedra to Caldas De Reis
Day 5. Caldas De Reis to Padron.
Day 6 Padron to farmello. Only 6 miles so easy day or just carry on to Santiago.
Day 7. Farmello to Santiago.
I will look out for my passport and let you know the accommodation I have stayed in the past.

Olá Dennis, Valença (Portugal) is 4 km before Tui (Spain) . Therefore Tui to Valença is a way back! Well, I always stay in Valença instead of Tui because of the very "friendly" hospitaleira in Tui - it´s a personal thing. For you, it depends where you can get to by bus or by train. If you can get to Tui, don´t go back to Valença. If you can get to Valença you can take the way through the medieval fortaleza.

Walking north to Tui on the camino from Valenca do Minho which was the old frontier you pass through a spendid 17thc fortress designed by Vauban and then cross the river Minho on the 19th c International bridge designed by Eiffel. The view to Tui as the lights come on at dusk is splendid! Within the fortress the camino passes through the garden of the pousada/hotel Sao Teotonio. Stop at their outdoor bar to sip a coffee or more, relax and admire that panoramic view.
