The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I have just read this article, and whilst some of the recommendations and tips are useful, the Camino is not a backcountry trek. It is very unlikely that any peregrinos will be camping for example, and all the packs recommended are, in my opinion, much too large for a Camino. Most peregrinos carry 30l to 40l packs. Just bear this in mind when you read the article.

I've used the Osprey Expo 48 which he recommends on the Le Puy Camino and the Camino Frances and found it to be very comfortable and just the right size. I prefer having a little extra space to not having enough - I find it makes it a little easier to dig into the pack to find something.

It was not my experience that most peregrinos carry 30l to 40l packs. Many on this forum certainly do, but it seemed to me that my 48l pack was a pretty common size.

I did just over 300km with Osprey Talon 33 L and found it to be excellent in terms of comfort and usability. I never hiked before and never used any other backpack for hiking so can't compare, but it's just over a pound and there we some prose over the exos that I read beforehand. Found it a bit too small so bought the talon 44L for my next Camino which I think will be perfect. I've used many Osprey packs for casual use and they almost never disappoint

I use the Exos 48 on the Caminos  Love it!
