Ahhh, that's a shame. For the future pilgrims I hope you'll find another location. As I've already wrote in another thread Levante deserves some promotion.

Thanks for doing all this, Jean-Luc!

I recommend the Pension Alicante. It is near the train station and kind of near Amigos de Levante office, and in the central part of town. Rooms between 20 and 25€. Great value (excellent reviews too)!

I have stayed here multiple times, recently having returned to Valencia.
You need to book ahead to make sure there is a room but no credit card needed. Contact Info:

On septembre the 1st, The Amigos in Valencia switched to winter timetable:
the office is open on Wednesday 10AM-13:30AM and Friday 5PM-8:30PM.

As far as we can know, two French men started Levante yesterday, and a man from Scotland and a lady from Denmark started last Saturday. Also a Spanish man will start soon, but will switch to Wool Way after Almansa.
Buen Camino a todos

Hola, Jean-Luc,

Thanks for the info. And I bet we are all completely OK with using original Spanish names for Caminos: Wool Way = Ruta de la Lana ;)

OK K1, I have edited my text.

Hi pilgrims, here is new info.
As from October the 1st, our Asociación moves to a new office: Calle Jerónimo Muñoz, 32.
It is still next to the way, but 5 mn farer from the center of the city.21617880_1589711734413561_4731063366861393259_n.jpg Nueva sede 3.jpg

On the other hand we received pilgrims starting the Camino de Levante this week: 2 young German ladies, and a couple from Poland.

Buen Camino
Jean-Luc

Post data of Saturday: two more visits at the office yesterday: a man from Oregon, USA, starting today, and a man from Valencia-city starting from home his first Camino (refresh to my mind my same experience three years ago)

Wow, those are great resources. JLWV, would you mind if we posted these documents in the Resources section?

And one more question Jean Luc-- has the more recent version of the Association's guide been translated into English? I remember that a year or so ago, the English version was still a translation of the older guide. Many thanks! Buen camino, Laurie

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I am starting the Levante in April 2018. Have arranged to pick up my guide and pay for it on Friday, 13th April. See you then.

In Valencia now. I found pod bunks with light, charge point and large lockable drawer underneath, at "The River Hostel". €10 makes it a deal.

Excellent location! I walked past it on my first day on Levante because I started IN the Mediterranean sea and walked through that free parking zone, crossing the old river bed (now recreational area) and past the hostel on the way to cathedral.
Good to know. Thanks for posting.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Ant, see you on 13th
Gerard, welcome in Valencia and thank you for your info; I have updated the list with it.
K1, fine to read your comments
Laurie, sorry for all members, but by the moment a translation of the last guide is no foreseen. The idea has been launched, but there is no immediate means to realize it.

Hi Jean-Luc,
I tried to access the albergue in Rielves today 8 June, by calling the number in your guide. I was told that it’s closed temporarily for renovation. The owner of the bar nearby then told me that this has been the case for a long time.

I’m only repeating what I was told but the information may be useful to you.
Regards,
Digger

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Thank you Digger for your live information. I transferred it to people in charge of the guide. We shall investigate which is the plan in Rielves and update info.
Thanks again and buen camino.

Hi, JLWV,
I would be happy to translate the new editiion. I am not a professional translator by any means, but I translated Ender´s guide to the Salvador and I think it came out ok. I don't often get a chance to give back to the camino since I am so far away, so this is something I can do. I am not good at formatting or anything like that, but I can put the words into English!

Hi, Peregrina
I apologize for the delay of my answer.
I send you a private message.

This is to inform that the web of the "Asociación de Amigos del Camino de Santiago - Comunidad Valenciana" (www.vieriagrino.com) has just been renewed and IMO is good.
On the other hand, there is something new about albergues in Nava del Rey and Arevalo, and we hope soon in Toro (untill we get confirmation please check at the Tourism Office).

I can recommend Pension El Rincon (C/Carda, 11) in the old part of town near the Central Market. I got a single room with private bath for €22 per night on booking.com earlier this month

For who wants to receive the "pilgrim Benediction" when starting in Valencia, please note that this one is given in the church of 'San Juan del Hospital' after the daily mass at 07 P.M. - Please inform the prest of your wish.

By the way, this nice church is the oldest in Valencia, founded by the military Order of St John of the Hospital when king Jaime 1st conquiste the city in 1238. To day it depends of the Opus Dei.

JL

We are selling the last copies of the English guide (2009 edition).
There will be no more edition, as we are finishing the correction of the translation of the English web-guide.
The web-guides (Spanish available, English will be soon) do not include maps, but tracks for GPS and phone-applications.

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
Hi Jean-Luc!
Thanks for the great work you´re doing to faciliate the pilgrimage on the Levante. It will be my next camino, I hope next year.
I´m looking for a gpx-track for the whole Levante to Zamora (best in stages) but don´t find it on your website. Could you please post a direct link?

I´m looking for a gpx-track for the whole Levante to Zamora (best in stages) but don´t find it on your website

This is right, GPX format is not available on the webs related to the Caminos, which all use KML format.
For GPX, pilgrims can search in Wikiloc.

For KML:
- www.vieiragrino.com/en/way-tracks/ only for Levante (and the more recently updated)
- www.caminosantiago.org/cpperegrino/caminos/caminos.asp all ways, this is Federación
- www.centrodedescargas.cnig.es/CentroDescargas/locale?request-locales=en all ways, is IGN

JL

Hi Jean-Luc!
Many thanks.
The kml files are ok too. I will convert them into gpx.

Given that I live in Valencia, I may start chipping away at the Levante as the weather warms up here. Does anyone know a place in Valencia near the cathedral (inside the cathedral maybe?) for the first stamp? Last year when I first found the marker I asked around, and nobody seemed to know much about the Camino Levante in the area.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-

I got my first stamp at the cathedral. My clear memory of it though was that the person doing the stamping (a nun, I think) had absolutely no interest in the camino and viewed my request as an annoyance. I think the Association has a stamp too.

Yah, that doesn't surprise me based on the blank stares I received last year when I was asking about it haha. Thanks! I'm just waiting on a new credential and then I'll head down and try to get stamp one.
